Cole said this a couple of times in one week, and again the next week, which made it seem like it was some lame catchphrase they were attempting to get out there, but he hasn't even hinted at it since. I wonder if Netflix had a word..?

One would hope sheer common sense prevailed.
I'm betting your idea is closer

Maybe they realized what a massive lie that is.

Better than Netflix? So, it has porn? I bought a Roku to watch it on. That includes free porn.

I would guess they were quoting some random review of it.

They should have gone for "It's like Netflix....only without the enormous profits!"

Or "It's like Netflix, but for one very specific genre. That constantly tells you to buy Netflix."

I don't know why he didn't just say 'it's like Netflix... But for wrestling"
Actually seeing that written down, it's pretty clear why he doesn't say it.

I hate promotion like this. I guess from watching a lot of Cinema Snob episodes, the big rule of thumb is don't mention a good movie in your shitty movie. This is like Sega with Nintendo, or hell, WCW with WWF. The last thing WWE needs to do is take ideas from WCW.

He'd say "it's like Netflix, but for comedy action variety stories in an entertainment medium" or whatever bullshit linguistic knots WWE ties themselves in to avoid saying wrestling.

They just had to add two letters to make it accurate:
"It's like UK Netflix, but better."

Attacking the competition to try and hype their own product has always been the go to move for a wounded WWF/E, they spent a lot of the 90s doing things like taking potshots at various other American sports, running skits and newspaper adverts attacking WCW management, fake Hogan and Savage skits and they kept it going even when business was on the upswing with fake Diesel and Razor, DX invading WCW, Gillberg...

It is with the right know how/IP redirects and such, but without that the huge deal of companies who hold rights in different areas/if Netflix in certain countries is willing to pay rights to said companies means there's entirely different databases of films/TV series available. Given the UK (the Republic of Ireland has it's own Netflix too) is a smaller place it gets less things or less in demand things in general, same popular series/films but an incredible lack of depth. UK Netflix is still alright but once you go to the US/Canada (and are sad/lonely/bored/paid enough to carry your laptop with you) for a few weeks at a time then you realize that you've been scraping the bottom of a cultural barrel. I like to compare it with the alcohol availability in bars/pubs in the UK compared to every US city/town. But that may just be pointing to the sad/lonely/bored side of my psyche again.

UK Netflix sucks because of the lack of variety. To be fair it has quite a few recent box office films that aren't on the American one and lots of classic british TV that aren't on there either. But it's severely lacking in Netflix main selling points, Indie films, older films, documentaries and tv series. Luckily alot of British netflix subscribers visit the US regularly so it's no issue. To be fair though, it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, there's plenty to watch on there now. but most of peoples perception of it comes from like 2 years or so ago when it first launched was dreadful
