I don't get it. Another millionaire athlete arrested for stealing something worth $20? Stupid Doubt she's a millionaire. Her representation say it was an honest mistake at a self-check out machine where she was buying multiple items and she did not realize the Ipod case did not scan. I believe the judge/court sentenced her to community service and ruled that the charges would be removed from her record. Which also makes her getting released highly unlikely, at least anytime soon.

lol Why did that pathetic Wal-Mart manager call the cops? Self checkouts have not worked for me multiple times, and she was clearly paying for other items. Then again, VERY briefly working at Wal-Mart, I learned the store is filled with losers who take their $8/hour jobs way too seriously. Look at these people, they actually believe in the BS this company spews. The people that charged her, are clearly sheep You're clearly Emma's lawyer. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Sorry your experience with Wal-Mart sucked so bad, but you literally know nothing about anybody involved in the situation. Certainly not enough to call the manager "pathetic". That's just weird to me. If you become a manager at Wal-Mart, you're a simpleton

11 pages over a damn cell phone case? I would expect nothing less from a person so morally bankrupt they stole recipes from their doctor's office. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) A gainfully emmaployed person, who is theoretically makes pretty darn good money, stole something--intentionally or by accident. That's interesting. The fact the item had little value only makes things more interesting and emmataining.

You don't like or respect anyone or thing to do with Walmart, we get it but when you start in on things like that you tread dangerously on baiting and flaming people that do work there or other stores and don't share your extreme view on things.

Fair enough, but they were voted the worst employer in America before. /Done with Wal-Mart related topics on the board forever

WWE better cut the cord before a bunch of little girls start stealing cell phone cases to be like their hero Emma.

Isn't shoplifting usually associated with depression, anxiety, or some other type of emotional disorder? When I was a punk teenager it was associated with "Hey, I really want this, but don't want to spend my money, so I hope no one is looking." Perhaps it was a kind of depression. The kind that was cured instantly when I played my new bounty on my Sega Genesis.

Last I saw it said that she forgot to pay for it, however that happens.

Haven't read the 11 pages, but if it was seriously a mistake, how is it that this got far enough that she was charged with larceny? Isn't that a bit extreme? The case was $21 for crying out loud. I don't get it.

Anyway, for the most part, this story seems to be over. I doubt we'll ever see security footage, which could give us a better idea of whether it looked like an oversight or mistake, or a blatant attempt not to pay for something. Anyway, I think this story has kind of played out and there's not much more to it unless she doesn't do her community service or there are future incidents.

After reading that it involves self checkout I feel for Emma. My ex went through the same thing. Our local K-Mart's security was convinced that we all were shoplifters (we weren't) and followed us around every time we were there. She used a self checkout one day and the receipt printer was jammed. Screw it. We put her things in the car and went back in for pizza.
Big bad security man pulled her out of the Little Caesars and was grilling her and ignoring us when we told him to check the security footage or check the register history. He cussed us out instead. Needless to say the police arrived, they checked the terminal and found out she indeed paid. We told them to take their merchandise and shove it up their ass.
Sounds like an innocent mishap to me. They should have just made her pay for it and let it go.

I know it's mostly justified considering how big a company they are, but a manager overreacting doesn't surprise me at all.

That's a little bizarre.

I'm really wondering about this...
If she really didn't know, then she actually did nothing illegal.
Most states shop lifting laws basically say that you purposely tried to take an item.
If it were an error with a self check out, then she un knowingly walked out with the item. Therefor she would not be shoplifting. It seems super weird that a lawyer would have not have fought the charges..
I am speculating either
A :she was stealing something bigger, got caught, and then her lawyer took a plea with community service.. B: She's telling the truth, but she would have had to wait to have a "proper" trial, so, she took the plea as an easy way out.
