Guess David Ortiz will be part of the final vote?

I like to consider myself fairly tapped into Major League Baseball, but who the f*** is Tony Watson? I just looked at his Baseball Reference page, and he's put together quite a season, but I'd literally never heard his name uttered until the Selection Show on ESPN.

As an A's fan, I approve of the selections. I also would have added Sonny Gray.

I'm really happy that Starlin Castro is having such a great rebound year from last year. I'm kinda hoping Rizzo gets in there as well. If not this year, he will get in for years to come.

I'm pleasantly surprised that John Farrell didn't give in to David Ortiz's hissy fit about Nelson Cruz and feeling entitled to an All-Star spot he doesn't really deserve.

Quietly one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. Doesn't get the hype because he isn't a closer. He just takes the ball and does his job.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, 2014 top overall pick Brady Aiken has an elbow issue and the Astros are now looking to get a $1.5 million discount on his deal.

I more or less loathe Ortiz, not because of who he plays for, but because he's a whiney jackass who doesn't have any concept of irony. He gets outted as failing a drug test, gives the exact same excuse (what? how'd THAT happen?) that Palmiero did, has been given a straight up pass by everyone, and yet can't give anyone else the same benefit he's been given.

I'm baffled by the massive benefit of the doubt everyone gives Ortiz. He's about as egotistical as A-Rod and gets a tenth of the venom launched his way.

Look, I agree that David Ortiz has been playing the petulant diva card with a little too much frequency lately, but his comments about Nelson Cruz receiving the nod as the starting designated hitter in the All-Star Game was the furthest thing from a "hissy fit". boston.cbslocal.com/2014/07/07/david-ortiz-on-not-making-all-star-team-cruz-martinez-encarnacion-are-having-great-seasons/For once, Ortiz actually comes across as humble and gracious in defeat.

Kyle Seager called up for he ASG to replace Edwin Encarnacion. And he f'n deserves it, IMO. He's been Seattle's field player MVP for the last couple of years.

I think they are confusing him with John Lackey.

A guy who fell asleep during a Yankees game is suing MLB AM, ESPN, the NY Yankees, the announcers of the game for $10 million for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

I don't think anyone was questioning his intelligence when the game initially aired. I mean, it was a nationally-televised Red Sox vs. Yankees game. Those things routinely take four-plus hours. You can't fault the guy for trying to catch some Z's in the middle innings. But after reading his lawsuit, he's not exactly doing himself any favors.

Tom Glavine tweeted that he liked an article I wrote about him for my blog. Pretty awesome to say the least.
