If he's good enough, give him a mask (merchandise possibilities) and call him "Kid Thunder" or something. WWE needs more masked guys anyway.
If PR is an issue, WWE could spin it and say that it would be unfair to exile Chris' son from the business simply for the actions of his father.

One problem he'd also have in the WWE is he looks really similar to his father, so he'd probably need a mask or something. Well we will be due a new sin cara in a couple of years. They can call him Sin Papa. *Ducks*

I thought there was a general consensus that the kid was off his rocker. Your dad murdering his wife and your 7 year old half-brother before taking his own life tends to mess up a person's mental well-being.

I know we're completely trying to avoid anything involving Benoit Sr, but Wild Pegasus wore a mask. Wonder what a modern take on that could be like. If not, perhaps Sin Cara could find a new tag team parter in The Blue Blazer.

I feel SO sorry for this kid. Through no fault of his own, his WWE career can never happen. Perhaps he can be somewhat successful in Japan, but no American company can ever touch him. Jake Roberts' dad was a known child rapist. Vince seems pretty understanding in terms not giving everyone a fair chance regardless who their father is.

He didn't murder Nancy and Daniel. I fail to see the logic behind dooming this kid just because of acts that his father committed. As long as he has support and guidance, he can have a much better career than his father without living in his shadow.

I'm just going to go ahead and not judge the kid whose father killed his wife and half-brother and then himself over the course of the weekend. To the best of my knowledge, nobody on this forum knows what that's like. I'm willing to cut the kid some slack for it and hope, whatever he pursues in life, he finds happiness and is respected as his own man.

I have no respect for the guy, not because of his father's deeds, but because he was so eager to become a wrestler without even ever being trained that he was letting an unscrupulous promoter exploit his last name as long as he could get in the ring. The "match" didn't end up happening, and sure the promoter was more to blame, but Benoit allowed it to happen until Jericho stepped in and shut the whole thing down. I would've gotten in a ring, untrained at that age. It's up to the promoters to keep shit like that from happening.

Haven't a fair few people who've gone to flourish in WWE not been trained to begin with either? I believe that Punk was vastly untrained for the first year of his career with his backyard fed so I honestly don't think it's worth holding that against the kid. Is it irresponsible? Sure. Is it uncommon? No, not at all.

I'm giving David the benefit of the doubt in assuming that he was naive and just really wanted to wrestle and that's why he let his name be exploited. If that's the case I have no respect for him, but the alternative is that he exploited the fact that his father is a murderer for money/fame/a career boost which is worse by far. Best case, the kid f***ed up majorly and deserves no respect. Worst case, while obviously not at the level of his father, David's a piece of shit.

Honestly if he's good enough the WWE would be the best place for him. They are the one promotion that won't exploit his last name and while wellness isn't perfect I would imagine it's probably the best in wrestling currently. HHH thought highly of Chris before he lost his shit, so it's not a 0% chance IMO.
All of that said, it's very understandable if the E didn't want to give him a shot even if he were good enough though.

You could look at it the other way, but he could be trying to get people to look past the events that happened and make people see the Benoit name as a wrestling name and not one associated with murder? Could be one or the other, even if the kid is exploiting something which has clearly harmed his family then, well, could be immaturity/impatience and wanting to get into wrestling anyway he could. I don't think this is on the level of Gagne awfulness at all even if David Benoit was being single minded and exploiting his own father's name.

He was literally being promoted by Smith Hart as "David Benoit, yes David BENOIT!"... Then, this happened: (from 411mania)

And the latter report says that Benoit didn't lie about his training, that Smith did, so again that points to the promoter rather than Benoit.

Giving David every benefit of the doubt and assuming every bad idea and communication error was the fault of Smith Hart, David still (until Jericho stepped in) was going along with it. So I think at the very least he was complicit in gaining from his father's deeds being exploited and I have no respect for him because of that.

There is no guarantee David Benoit knew what Smith Hart was saying to people though. For all Benoit knew, Smith Hart was telling people it was his debut match and to help him through as he is green, not that he barely has any training and could be a danger.
I think it's harsh to assume that Benoit, who seems to take pride in his name and what his dad achieved, would do the cheap thing to try and make a quick buck at that expense without any real proof.
