I just don't get why, after years of offenses shattering records and destroying history books, the NFL wants to further neuter defenses. Last night was an embarrassment league-wide, that any pass into the secondary that was incomplete had basically a 50-50 shot of drawing a flag for holding or illegal contact. It's a joke and it's only going to get worse as the season progresses. For the same reason the NCAA has tried to. Defensive showdowns are boring now and don't get as good of ratings, so the want to game to move faster to avoid that complaint.

The power of hype actually has me watching a Lions/Browns PRESEASON game where there have been nothing but field goals.

I know it's Preseason and all, and it doesn't REALLY matter... but losing 30-0 in any fashion is not a good start for the Texans...
On the opposite spectrum Arizona looks GREAT because of it, lol

I was getting pumped watching Manziel tonight. I see him overtaking Hoyer (who I also like, but right not they're about even and Hoyer is closer to his ceiling) and starting game 1. Not necessarily what I want, in a perfect world Johnny sits all year, but he's gonna beat Hoyer out sooner than later.
I hate that we run that pistol bullshit now though, it essentially makes every run play a draw and the running back starts with zero momentum.

Jets rookie CB Dexter McDougle is done for the year with a torn left ACL.
Alex Smith indicated he would not take a "pay-as-you-go" contract like the one Andy Dalton signed with the Bengals.

No Tannehill would of course start, but it makes sense considering I'm sure they want a Backup with more experience, as their depth chart below Tannehill is slim to unknown
-Matt Moore -Seth Lobato -Jensen Brock -Pat Devlin
I don't see all of these guys staying on the roster even if Grossman isn't signed...

As if the Jets didn't have enough defensive problems. As for Smith, makes sense, much more of a proven Quarterback, though his Numbers aren't the greatest in the world, they aren't BAD but he isn't lighting up any stat sheets. So I assume that's why.
