I can't see any team picking up Ray Rice this season. But I think he'll be back in the NFL at some point. You can't ever rule a player completely out of the league for life unless they've killed somebody (Rae Carruth) or are going to be in jail for the foreseeable future (Sam Hurd).
Michael Vick, Adam "Pacman" Jones, Plaxico Burress, Leonard Little, and Donte Stallworth are just a few players who were labeled as potentially out of the NFL for life, yet each one of them came back. If there's a franchise out there that needs a running back, they'll take a flier on Ray Rice and the negative publicity that comes with it.

It's really weird seeing the disconnect of fans of a team/player and what a player does being excused depending on the jersey color. Just some comments on some of these articles, wow.

Rice will be back for next season. That's inevitable I'd say. Question is who actually signs him. Times like these make me thankful the Bengals are set at RB. History is there for a reason.

Goodell has apparently 'indefinitely suspended' him as well.

Same thing happened with Kobe Bryant and Ben Roethlisberger when they were accused of rape and had those cases dismissed on very dubious grounds and after campaigns of character assassination on their alleged victims.
The f***ed up thing is that one of the people I knew who was vigorously defending Roethlisberger was a victim of sexual assault.

The Ravens cutting Rice and the league suspending Rice indefinitely is just an example of the right outcome for the wrong reasons. By Rice rightfully being terminated, I think Goodell is hopeful that people will just conclude that the NFL "made things right" in the end and go back to just enjoying the games. I hope the media doesn't let the league off the hook. There is still the real question of if Goodell saw the tape that was released today when he decided Ray Rice's suspension. There is reason to believe that he did, and is now lying about that. If Goodell saw the tape and still concluded that a 2 game suspension was appropriate, he should be the next person out of a job. Suspending Rice for 2 games upon viewing that tape would show that Goodell's views of women are just as outdated, oppressive, and unacceptable as the views of a couple of NBA owners which ultimately cost them their teams. No amount of reacting to the reactions of the public would change that fact.

Way to crack down and prove you're a no-nonsense, heartless enforcer, Goodell. What a freaking joke that guy is. The video was posted to TMZ around 4:30 this morning. It takes him until after the Ravens had already released Ray Rice for him to hand down an "indefinite suspension."
And on top of it all, if the NFL actually, truly, honestly had not seen that video before today (which I don't buy for a second), then it goes to show how shoddy and haphazard their investigating is for off-field transgressions.

This kind of thing is why I'm not really a sports fan anymore. People jumping to defend something like this is just crazy.
Also if he wasn't a famous millionaire he'd have gone to jail. The cults known as "die hard sports fans" just skeev me the f*** out.

Honestly, if this was 2 years ago Ray Rice he ain't getting cut. Broken down Ray Rice, only thing it costs them is some cap hit money and it's good PR.
Either way for what it is, good on the Ravens for doing the obvious.

Damage control. Its all PR. It totally is, but sad as this is to say, I'm surprised they actually did it.

Ray Rice has brought an entire league to his knees.
What we saw from Romo, Manning, Matt Ryan- seems like it was 10 months ago instead of yesterday.

The cults known as "die hard sports fans" just skeev me the f*** out. There are also wrestling fans that can look past Chris Benoit murdering his wife and child and still enjoy his matches because he was a good technical wrestler. People still enjoy Sean Penn movies, listen to Chris Brown's music, and think Charlie Sheen is an adorable screw-up. This is to say nothing of those that believe that their sibling/friend/fraternity brother could never be capable of domestic/sexual violence because they "just don't seem like the type". This issue and the issues surrounding including victim blaming, disbelief, and making excuses for the perpetrator are bigger than sports culture.

Shocked the Ravens cut him because they seemed like the sort of team that wouldn't have an issue having a detestable human being in the locker room.
Good on the Ravens for finally putting their foot down. Watch him end up in San Francisco because Jim Harbaugh has already proved that he is okay with that crap despite him saying otherwise.

This is what the Ravens and NFL should have done in the first place. I don't buy for a second that neither didn't see this video long ago.

If he were 25, I could see the Ravens keeping Rice. But you can make the argument he's done, he looked horrible last season and he was probably going to get cut within the next couple of years anyway.
