So, the f*** was even the point of the "King of Swing" moniker then?

I suspect the underlying part that goes unmentioned is that it was getting over-with face reactions, when WWE wanted him to remain a heel.

I really f***ing hate WWE sometimes. What other entertainment company would intentionally drop something that was super hot with their fanbase because damn it, they didn't plan for the fans to like it? We aren't watching a product made for us. We're watching Vince McMahon's personal sandbox. Yeah, Cesaro's a weird conundrum for me on that front. Personally, I really only ever liked him as part of the Real Americans and he just doesn't work for me as a solo star (even just individual singles matches, I really can't think of one I liked that much), but at the same time, the way they've completely wasted him at every turn, blew the chance for him to be a big face, and neutered his moveset is a prime example of how this company is self-defeating and entirely built upon whatever Vince's whims of the day are. Even if I don't like him, clearly a lot of people do and were hot for him and they completely blew it for absolutely no reason. I suspect the underlying part that goes unmentioned is that it was getting over-with face reactions, when WWE wanted him to remain a heel. Even then, now he's not getting reactions at all. And why can't he be cheered yet they actively encourage chanting for heels like Bray and Barrett?

I think Cesaro will be gone by the end of the year. Its quite clear he isnt in their plans for a big push anytime soon.

Whole thing is just bizarre. Dude was on the verge of being huge, and then? He hooked up with Paul Heyman and watched it hit a wall. Which outside of CM Punk and Brock Lesnar is the fate of all Paul Heyman Guys in WWE.

It's a face spot. He's a heel. It'll be back one day. The problem is, the fans want him as a babyface, and they're doing nothing with him as a heel. WWE shouldn't pigeon-hole somebody into a role that doesn't fit them, or doesn't benefit them, just because THEY want it that way. It undermines the whole 'getting yourself over' aspect and cements it as being bullshit. They simply don't want to use him one way or the other right now, and that delay, at his hottest, is stupid, nonsensical and detrimental. If he was white-hot as a heel, I'd agree with it. Why try and make a guy hated, loved, when the former is working? But it's not working. That, again, is the problem. WWE are idiots.

If anything they should have rolled with the response he was getting and turned him face.

Kofi Kingston Cody Rhodes John Morrison Ryback ...any of these ring a bell? There shouldn't be only two to three top guys there should be plenty so people can look back on this in 25 years and say damn 2012-2014 was a good time in WWE, there was something for everyone. The Network is being built on moments/memories that would be re-watched, the only memorable PPV this year is Mania 30 that's it. That's why Attitude is fondly remembered, because quality be damned, everyone had a role on the shows. Matches, stories, whatever. That didn't mean that everyone had to be a main eventer, mind you, but at least it meant there was something for everybody. It's a reason that sitcoms with "ensemble" style casts do better than ones that are about 1 or 2 people. A Wilfred will never be as big as a Friends because even if you hate a few characters in the latter, there's likely at least one you'll still be a fan of. You don't like one or two major cast members on the first one? You're out of luck; the show's going to suck for you. Pushing more people means more money. When you've got multiple big draws, more people will want to see. They'll buy more merch, PPVs, talk about them on the internet more, and so forth.

Step 1.) Make the best manger around his mouthpiece, but have said manager spend all his promo time talking about Brock Lesnar. Step 2.) Nickname Cesaro the "King of Swing" and base all his merchandise around that. IMMEDIATELY make him stop using the move. Step 3.) Job that sumbitch out. Step 4.) Profit?
Yeah, that's a pretty sufficient way to kill all of a guy's heat and momentum.

As I type, I'm watching the first ladder match between E&C and Hardys. 4 stars were born in that match. But guess what? None of them main evented until Edge 6-7 years later. Back then, their most profitable time, they actively wanted everyone to be over, instead of saving all the cool stuff for a select few main eventers. Now, sometimes people GET over, and are actively snuffed out.

To go along with what others are saying, I agree that WWE needs to start investing time in people other than their main eventers. Cesaro just needs a storyline/feud, not a "Randomly challenging Mid-Card Champion X for the Mid-Card Title". With that, I think Cesaro will be fine. Perhaps a feud with Swagger? With the current alignments, that could be really interesting.

On one hand, it makes some degree of sense. Like, "hey, we're trying to make you a bad guy, and we don't want you to get a pop." If that's the case, they should have made up for it by having him always tease the swing, the pop starts building, then he just shakes his head and does a stomp to the midsection, crowd hates him because of it, best of both worlds.
But if they're just going to take the move away from him and not do other things to build him up (make his relationship with Heyman more worthwhile, make him more vile and heelish, have him win some damn matches, etc.), then that's a problem.

First time Cesaro was getting over, they pull Aksana from him, took the us title from him and put him with the real Americans without a plan. He gets over again, they put him with Heyman, after a month it cools off then he's getting eliminated by Slater and jobbing on tv, idk what his current role is, if he's triple h flunkie or not, he will get over again. The man is a f***ing Saiyan he gets stronger every time he's near death, he will have a long career in the WWE, I'm not gonna lie it'll take some time but he will be a main eventer.

Stop trying to actively make the entertaining heels boring and work on making the faces more entertaining. It would make for a better show.
