Any news on the theory that Spike would buy tna and run it themselves?

Any news on the theory that Spike would buy tna and run it themselves? I'd like to see that but I think if that were the case Spike would've done it already. They wouldn't have "canceled" it just for the sake of watching quality of the show deteriorate. They would've bought it and tried to keep the name talents around. TNA should just take the Velocity deal and run with it. It's better than nothing.

There is a certain logic to it, in putting the company in a position to where they'd be desperate to sell it and could get it at a lower price. That being said, I don't think that's happening. And I don't think the Velocity deal's going to go through either and if it does, TNA won't be able to live off of it. I think they'll be dead by summer of next year if they do even resume operations in January.

I don't see the point in Spike buying TNA. The brand has been so devalued at this point that it would be like buying a junky, worn-out jalopy with three flat tires and no muffler that barely runs, backfires fairly often, and emits smoke from the engine whenever you manage to crank it up.
Sure, years ago it used to be a decent automobile with plenty of working parts. Some days it almost seemed like it would serve you well for a long while. But due to neglect and stupidity the owner has let the condition of the vehicle lapse badly, hiring mechanics who have absolutely no idea what they are doing not once, but twice, to try and keep it tuned up. At this point there's really not much value left in the thing.
Why waste money on buying a badly tarnished product when there are plenty of others available on the market that don't have the stain of TNA on them? Or even using the money to build one of your very own?

Spike should just give TNA's timeslot to a highlights show of New Japan, with English language commentary. It would get better ratings.

Maybe Viacom doesn't want to lose that rating, but like you said TNA left such a bad taste...

I wonder if Turner would buy TNA. If Turner wanted to own a wrestling company, WCW would still exist.

My prediction is that even when all the talent contracts have expired and there is no more TNA on TV, they will still talk about a new deal coming soon.

I've been reading different things... granted it's on Twitter, so who knows how true it is, but someone said that they have until November 1st to sign a new TV deal if they're going to start airing in January.

Why can't Fox buy them back? Rather than have Impact on FSN, why not have it on FX?

Why can't Fox buy them back? Rather than have Impact on FSN, why not have it on FX? What do you mean buy them back? When Impact aired on Fox Sports Net, TNA paid them for the airtime. ECW did the same thing with their syndicated show as I remember in my market, I got the show on a UPN affiliate (later a WB affiliate). Each week before the show started, the station put up the "This program is a paid advertisement" bumper that you see before infomercials. As for FX, wrestling has to do higher ratings than other shows to justify airing it because lower-rated shows bring in more ad revenue.
