Which of these two shows did you enjoy better? Which did you think was a little creepier? I remember watching both shows as a kid but I was more of an avid watcher of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" than I was of "Goosebumps." Maybe I am biased because I watched Nickelodeon A LOT as a kid, but I would probably pick AYotD on this one. I remember thinking that the theme song and opening credits was creepy as a kid. Some episodes still sort of give me the chills as well.
"Goosebumps," on the other hand, was actually enjoyable in some areas. I remember reading some bits of a few books when I was a kid, but I didn't read the whole thing. There were a few episodes that stood out to me as a boy, like "The Haunted Mask" and I mean the first one. "Night of the Living Dummy" was another one that stood out to me. Of course, I didn't always watch the show on my own and mainly watched it because a daycare that I went to put it on at times. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I didn't mind it and actually enjoyed some.
In my opinion, I am going with "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

Afraid, in terms of TV, though I enjoyed the Goosebumps books.

I enjoyed the Goosebumps books a lot but the tv show just wasn't quite the same. Are you afraid of the dark? was really creepy. There are some episodes I still think about.

I watched both as a kid, but to me Are You Afraid of the Dark was the better overall show. It was nice and creepy and the recurring characters were a nice touch. Goosebumps were great books, but the show felt watered down to me.

Are You Afraid of the Dark
I loved the Goosebumps books as a kid, can still enjoy them today if I read them to be honest but they just didn't translate well to TV.
Dark had some great episodes, I watched one not long ago, about Heath Slater stealing a dummy clowns nose and getting stalked by him which had some pretty creepy moments in it.

Goosebumps because I didn't have cable in the 90s.

Pfft, like it's a question. Of course Are You Afraid of the Dark was better. Now, if this had The Haunting Hour in Goosebumps' place; that would actually be harder for me to say. Seriously, check it out on the Hub sometime, it's actually very well done.
On a fun side note, I actually got to meet the head writer/creator of AYAOTD last year at book signing last year. He was a very cool dude, and he was really funny too. Cracked up quite a lot during his Q and A.

Are You Afraid of the Dark was pretty Canadian.
I think that's the deciding factor for a lot of people.

Both shows were made in Canada. Of course, but you can tell Dark was much more Canadian. I dunno. The amount of Canadian actors in Goosebumps is more noticeable (Ryan Gosling, Hayden Christensen... That guy who plays Oscar from Corner Gas)

If we're just talking about the shows, then Are You Afraid of the dark. I never really got into the Goosebumps show outside of a couple of episodes and I loved the books when I was a kid.

Both shows were good, but I enjoyed Are You Afraid of the Dark more. I might have been younger when AYAOTD came out, but there were a few episodes that were scary (especially that one where the neighbor is a werewolf which scared the sh** out of me)

The only Goosebumps episode I remember is Stay Out of the Basement, since I had the videotape of it. I liked the books a lot, but Are You Afraid was a better show, I think
