The sad thing is I bet people will still buy it though.

You have literally less than a month to go until launch in a market where you're hoping to get a tonne more subscribers because it's one of your biggest markets, how on Earth do you have nothing else to say about it yet?! I get the feeling it'll be launched without fanfare because it's so stripped down that acting like it's an amazing deal or comparable to the rest of the world would only result in a backlash and some interesting reactions to the $9.99 stuff at the next UK Raw. Yeah, I've got the feeling we're going to get stiffed on this too But yeah, I find it weird Sky have said nothing, considering they advertised Sky Sports 5 for about 8 weeks before it started

I'm assuming sky haven't promoted it because it will have nothing to do with them. Like I've said before, sky not promoting it is a good sign.
I was previously of the opinion that the UK Network would be a stripped down version but WWE did confirm a few months ago that the network would be the same across the world and since then they haven't done anything that makes me believe this isn't the case, with the exception of the Canada release. If the UK were getting shafted like Cananda then surely something would have been leaked/announced by now, right?

We didn't know Canada was getting the shaft until a couple of days before the launch, so why would we know about the UK getting a shitty version until the 11th hour?

Why would Sky renews the WWE contract for more money and announce they intend to keep selling PPV's on Sky Box office until 2019 if the PPVs were going to be given away on a rival subscription service for a fraction of the price?

Where have sky announced that they signed WWE "for a lot more money"? I'm sure it was an increase but nowhere have I seen any figures quoted or even hinted at. Sky's high Raw viewership will be unaffected a lot of people will still buy the PPVs. I'm confident I'm right. Not long to go to find out.

Just following up on my previous post, I've done some digging around the television inner industry websites (as opposed to the showbiz sites such Digital Spy) and the more I read about Sky's deal with WWE (renewed until 2019 but not yet in force - the old deal hasn't expired yet) the more I'm starting to see why people are wary of the lack of news about the UK network. I'm now starting to wonder if the silence is due to WWE and Sky still thrashing thee details out. I stick to my original prediction though.

You could be right, it just makes both sides look bad if that's the case. They pretty much signed that deal a couple of weeks after the Network announcement so surely WWE had to have an idea about what they wanted to do with the Network before signing the new deal since they probably knew about the network before the announcement.

I'd be wary of it without Sky. As I've said if the content isn't there, as it wouldn't be without Sky, then what will the point of it be?
As far as I can see it's with Sky's cooperation or it's merely an archive.

In one of their shareholder calls, they claimed that their new TV deals in the UK and Thailand were for multiple times their previous ones.

Found this elsewhere
Ian Eccles @spinkzilla Sep 12 A Sky rep over @ the official Sky forum WWE thread said that the WWE Network UK would be the same as the U.S version - NOT via a Sky channel
Maybe they're giving up individual PPV income e.g those who will just buy Summerslam or just by WM to Sky in return to being able to market the Network online at a monthly subscription.

Huh. That'd be really weird on Sky's end if they were going that approach with it unless, like you said, Sky still have WrestleMania or something. Great for us, obviously.

Read elsewhere that someone apparently saw the beta version of the UK Network, and that PPVs will be blacked out for 24 hours, so replacement programming will air on the live feed whilst the PPV is on Sky Sports Box Office. The PPVs then get added to the Network on Tuesday mornings.

I thought the delay was due to Sky's previous contract.
But part of me wonders if they held their second biggest market back on purpose because they are worried about the people who only signed up to the 6 months for mania cancelling (October is 6 months from April) so that the added UK signups can cancel it out and at the next investor meeting they don't have to announce that they suddenly lost all these people in October.

I doubt anyone has seen a beta version and even if they had it wouldn't be clear how PPVs would work seeing as here hasn't been one for a month.

Looks like I will be keeping the American version from right here in London England This. I don't care if it's the exact same as the US version. It'll be £9.99 probably and I pay just over £6 with the conversion rate.
