I'll probably check it out at a matinee this week. I have a feeling it'll be like DiG said-- all style and no substance. Maybe I'll still enjoy it though, I did like the first.

Got to watch it tonight....it was not terrible but the overly long wait really hurt.
I thought the stories for the most were pretty solid especially the title tale and Marv once again just steals the show.

On the plus side, Frank Miller is probably looking for a hole to crawl into right now. Is that how he's referring to women these days? Just saw this for something to do on a night off. I had an OK time but I don't think it had anything near the impact of the first. Thought the recasting of Dwight was a joke, and I just find that goddamn Joseph Gordon Levitt to be forced, sniveling and obnoxious, for some reason. Seems like it's either him or Jennifer Lawrence being incongruously forced into films, and they stick out like a sore thumb.

To be fair, the entire point of Dwight is that he literally didn't start with Clive Owen's face, he has major surgery, so if they were telling the earlier part of his tale here, they kind of had to recast.

I saw this last night via Netflix.
It...............wasn't terrible?
Should've definitely been made closer to the original, but even then the biggest hurdle for this movie is: it's not really a sequel, is it? First movie adapted a few of the volumes in Frank Miller's graphic novel series (1, 4 & 5, IIRC), but then this sequel only adapts 2.
So I spent way too much time trying to figure out the timeline to enjoy it, I guess. It does make sense, eventually, but it hurts the movie because you're inevitably going to spend time while you're watching it trying to figure these things out.
And I completely forgot about the Dwight recasting; so more film material that I spent time trying to figure out. I usually Wiki a movie while I watch it - not this one, though, and boy did I pay...
That said, some very good moments: Eva Green is the scariest looking sexy woman in the history of the world, I think, and there were moments where some very subtle effects really made a scene look & feel so much better.
But I also wish I hadn't watched even a moment of the green screened extra, which shows essentially the entire movie (in fast motion) as it was filmed in front of a green screen. What a terrible moviemaking experience that must be at times...

Missed it when it was playing at the movies so I finally got around to seeing on my flight to singapore a couple of weeks ago. But in all honestly had it been relased a couple years after the first one rather than a 9 year wait I would of been more willing to forgive it since it wasn't terrble but rather just disappointing.

I actually like this one more then the original, i'd imagine that they recast Dwight because Clive Owen is 50 years old now. Not that i had any interest in seeing Jessica Alba nude (Seriously) but it really annoyed me that there were naked women all over this movie, EXCEPT in the strip club.

I actually watched it in theaters. It wasn't a bad movie, just mostly forgettable. Had it come out a couple of years after the original, it would've been fine.

I did just what I said I was gonna back in August; watched it on a matinee. I actually picked up the Blu Ray as well, as there's enough there to enjoy popping in every now and then. It's not great, but it's alright.

Again, they recast Dwight because he looks completely different prior to surgery. Before: After: Dwight has surgery in the film and he still looks the same post surgery, so if they did that with Josh Brolin then they could have done that with Clive Owen. I still say his age had something to do with the recasting.

do you think the world being completely sour on what Frank Miller has become is possibly hurting this movie?

I enjoyed the movie, but I definitely think Robert Rodriguez and company waited too long. They should have tried to made it for release around 2008 or 2009. It's also regrettable that Michael Clarke Duncan and Brittany Murphy passed away before they decided to make this film. Obviously they had to re-cast Manute and Murphy's character was not included. Her character was actually in the graphic novel A Dame To Kill For, though. It's also frustrating because Rodriguez seemed to be making so many vanity projects including two Machete movies.
