The past couple of summers I was able to catch some CFL games down here in the lower 48 on NBC Sports Network and some games on ESPN 2. But this summer I haven't seen any games listed on any of the basic cable sports networks that I have access to. I don't know if it's because NBCSN has forsaken the CFL for Premiere League soccer games or what. Basically my question is, does the CFL currently have a TV partner in America right now? Or is the CFL not running games right now (i.e. some kind of work stoppage that occasionally pops up in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, etc.)? I'm just curious because I got a kick out of watching CFL games. First of all it gave me a football fix as I waited for the NFL season to start. I find the game interesting seeing as how it's mostly the same as the American game, except totally different (trying to convert on third down is considered "going for it"?!),kind of like the relationship between America and Candada in a way. I also liked watching professional football in which I don't know who anyone is, but trying to figure out by context. Like watching the half time show you're able to glib "Ok, this quarterback has a reputation of being a clutch player when the game is tied/he has to overcome a point defecit" and things of that nature. Ok, I'm babbling. So is there a way for me indulge in my CFL fascination?

No, CFL's in season and active.
I'm in Canada, so I can't really help you, but you should try ESPN 3 (if you have it) in case.

NFL Network was showing games before the preseason started.

Maybe you can petition Vince McMahon to do XFL re-runs to get more football into your life.

Second to the ESPN 3 option if you have it. I have been too busy to check out they are still on there though.

It's on ESPN 2 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. That might change with college football starting up next weekend though.

except totally different (trying to convert on third down is considered "going for it"?!) I could be wrong on this whole thing. What you mean or the rules, but I'm given to understand the CFL only uses 3 downs, so yes, 3rd down would be going for it.

Our regional CSN (Chicago) airs occasional games on Saturday & Sunday nights when they're scratching for programming. Much better than Windy City Poker Tour.

But to a brain that is conditioned to the four down system of American football third down is the down before either punting or "going for it". It was just an example of how small differences between the American and Canadian game can really stand out.

Oh ok, I just misunderstood what you meant, I thought you were perhaps mocking going for it on 3rd, rather than disbelief at the difference. My fault.
