I don't know if this is the case for all of her songs, but the b-side tracks for Alanis Morrisette's singles off of her smash hit album Jagged Little Pill were all better than the singles themselves. All in all, that album was tremendous and did not have a single weak song on it. Hell, even the hidden track was pretty damned good. What's the name of this b-side collection? I think we had a misunderstanding. The B-sides and the singles were all off of Jagged Little Pill, which is the album that I was referring to as being pretty damned great.

The B-sides and the singles were all off of Jagged Little Pill, which is the album that I was referring to as being pretty damned great. Okay, so I have to hunt down the 'Single' CDs that were released for Jagged Little Pill (i.e. The "Ironic" single CD, the "You Learn" single CD, etc.) to find those b-sides from the album? Since Jagged Little Pill sold so well, I thought the b-sides would have been compiled into an official album, as was the case with Pearl Jam's Lost Dogs and Oasis' The Masterplan. EDIT: I looked at the track listings for the Jagged Little Pill singles. I only spotted one or two song titles that weren't on studio albums. The vast majority of the b-sides seemed to be live takes of singles off Jagged Little Pill. What are the names of the songs you praised?

Pearl Jam has always had quality b-sides. They also used to release a Christmas single every year with an original song or some obscure cover. They put out a really nice b-sides comp called Lost Dogs.

The reason Oasis had so many great B-sides was due to the ethic put forward by The Jam (Noel's favourite non-scouse band) that a band should reward their most dedicated fans through the medium of B-sides. The Jam had some truly blinding b-sides, in fact due to a problem at the pressing plant the b-side to the planned single "Dreams of Children" was put as the a-side. That particular b-side happened to be "Going Underground" which went on to be their most iconic hit.
Another good one is The Eels "I write the b-sides". Eels ran a fan competition to determine the title of their next b-side and "I write the b-sides" won out. The submissions that didn't quite make the cut were turned into the lyrics of another bonus track called "Hidden track".

Not a "band" per se, but Prince has always had great b-sides that could have been lead singles. La La La He He Hee, 17 Days, Erotic City, etc. Came here to say Prince. "She's Always in My Hair" "200 Balloons" "Feel U Up" 200 Balloons is one of Prince's best songs IMO. Also, obligatory Katy Perry post because she had an unreleased album back in the day called (A) Katy Perry, and a lot of the songs on it are some of her best work. As for official b-sides, Metallica's Garage Inc. and Megadeth's Hidden Treasures are probably my favorite compilations.

The Prince love in here is making me very happy. I have his symbol tattooed on his arm so getting to read from people who actually know more than Purple Rain is a joy. You guys are awesome.
Personally, the Manic Street Preachers, Blur and Belle & Sebastian are my picks. The Beatles is an excellent choice too.

I can agree with the Manic Street Preachers, Belle and Sebastian, and The Smiths. All of them have quality b-sides.
I also really like Deftones' cover of Savory.
I think Pearl Jam has to be in this conversation.

Nirvana "Sappy", Blandest", "D-7" and "Opinion" are awesome songs. "Aneurysm", "Curmudgeon", "Marigold", "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die" (Well, a couple days away from being a B-side) Nirvana has to be my answer

Oasis hands down for me, and also Oasis related...as both Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher have better b-sides than album tracks. "Simple Game of Genius", and "Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me" from Noel are two simply amazing amazing songs that should have been on high flying birds...hell Noel has a fantastic song called "freaky teeth" that he just does live that better then a few songs off high flying birds. and Beady Eye..."in the bubble with a bullet" "man of misery" "off at the next exit" are amazing songs too.

Anthrax and Maiden come to mind. I love the B-Side to "2 Minutes to Midnight". Just a recording of an argument between Steve Harris (with Bruce Dickinson kinda sticking his nose in it haha) and Nicko.

Especially since many of the Beatles' B-sides were also hit singles. I.e. Day Tripper, She's A Woman, Revolution.

One of my favourite Beatles tunes is a b-side: "Don't Let Me Down" (I especially like the version on Let It Be... Naked).

Just a recording of an argument between Steve Harris (with Bruce Dickinson kinda sticking his nose in it haha) and Nicko. Ah yes, "Mission From 'Arry." I also like "Sheriff Of Huddersfield," "Bayswater Ain't A Bad Place To Be," a live, Dickinson-led version of "Futureal," "Pass The Jam," and "More Tea Vicar."

Isn't "How Soon Is Now?" The Smiths' most famous song, despite being a b-side?

"Don't Worry Baby" and "God Only Knows" are 2 of the Beach Boys most covered songs and both were B-sides.

Isn't "How Soon Is Now?" The Smiths' most famous song, despite being a b-side? it was eventually released as a single, but yes it was originally a b-side.
