Orton fits the image you'd assume the company wants. Good looking, great body, billboard-attractive you could easily see in the movies (proper movies not 'WWE Studios' movies). It's shallow but TV is TV. How many of TV's top stars don't have sex appeal these days? He'll always be a prominent player in WWE unless his looks take a complete nose-dive south in the coming years.

Orton is a terrible face. Like, the absolute worst one ever. As a heel he's criminally underrated. Funny watching the smarks be outraged because they're becoming annoyed and irritated by what he does in the ring and his style. Yeah you're kinda...supposed to be. Leaving aside the usual boring argument don't you think he's gone too far in making himself look weak for heel heat? I get the logic of people being undeserving of their title/position on the card attracting heel heat but I think Orton has taken it too far. Former weaker champions like Flair, Angle and JBL were good at giving the impression that the challenger had their number but they usually devised a clever scheme or used their wits to benefit from circumstances that arose (eg. JBL in the barbed wire cage match) to let them squeak out a victory/retain their title. Or the stable leaders used their power and influence to win. Orton got the looking weaker bit right but never seemed in control in his most recent reign as champion (TLC aside), it was all down to the laziest kind of outside help from people above him in the pecking order (HHH) or that he had no influence over himself (Wyatts). I think that's different to a clever plan, using his wits or leading a stable as there's no achievement in defeating him when he's that weak and you look even worse if you lose (eg The Big Show distraction at S.Series), it's basically beating a mid-level henchman. Since then he's continued to look weak but without even the belt to prop him up. I know it's a subtle difference but I think it's still a big one. Do you think going even further than most to look weak was a good idea? Do you think the line should be drawn at some point?

Orton's like toast. Toast is a staple of your breakfast table; it's reliable and does its role in your breakfast well. It's just that generally, you don't want toast on its own. Toast is pretty boring just by itself. You'd much prefer bacon, eggs, maybe some hashbrowns and THEN toast. It's nice to know toast is there, but toast is never gonna be your first option. Unless you've spent all your food stamps so you can only afford bread. That's what last fall was, WWE sold its food stamps to afford to bring in Batista so we were stuck eating Orton with various sauces or spices on him to avoid starving.
