SO we have had Tyson Kidd competing for the NXT title but it seemed a given that he was not actually going to win it, but do you think that one day they should have a heel vet win the title, or should it just be left to the up and comers?
For example, say WWE signed Bubba Ray to be mostly a trainer and work with the new guys, would it be a good angle for him to play a bitter veteran who believes none of the NXT guys are worthy of being champion so he goes after the current champ and wins the title then goes on a 6 month heel championship run.
Would this work, he could get some good heel heat and the new guys benefit from working with a veteran, then whoever finally beats him (say Sami Zayn) and ends his reign of terror would be a conquering NXT hero.
Thoughts?

Brock Lesnar conquered the NXT title?
I mean, he's a heel veteran, kinda.
I think NXT should be NXT. I don't really like when main roster guys or legends are there. I didn't like when Shield came down there as Tag and US champs. It felt wrong. NXT should be about NXT. It was okay when Rollins had to lose his title for them to show up but other than that, stay gone. NXT is NXT.

I want a short NXT title reign first off. Yeah, longer reigns are largely for the better and you need one occasionally, but they exclusively do long-running reigns to the point that it's getting to where if someone hasn't had the title for six months yet there's no chance of them losing it.

Might work, but not with Bubba, because I hate him

The idea of Bully Ray being NXT Champion is the most horrifying idea I've read in a long while. In general, I'd say the idea is a waste because it deprives new stars of having the chance to be the top guy on their brand and gain valuable experience, but especially with someone like Bully... Bloody hell. Shall we have him start trying to powerbomb Bailey, too, just to make sure we never escape the shadow of bad ECW edginess?

It's how I re-introduced Drew McIntyre in my 2k14 universe.

I'd like some unpredictability after Neville loses it, not hot shot the title around but we dont need to keep overdoing the long reigns.

Rollins could be great in that role in a few years time especially if he ever has a good run with the WWE championship.
The idea of the first NXT champion returning for his gold could be taken in all sorts of directions.

I don't mind main roster guys being given time on NXT to shine but they should be kept separate from the developmental guys. They need to either be beating the dregs of the NXT roster like Angelo Dawkins or whoever in jobber matches or feuding with each other. No throwing them in feuds with developmental prospects where they have to lose and look like choke artists or win the title that they should be above already.

Might work, but not with Bubba, because I hate him Yeah, I'm no fan either. Of him or of the Dudleys. I always hated those guys, and their table gimmick. Tyson Kidd as NXT Champion could work, and I guess he's a veteran. And maybe Fandango could get a new lease of life through something like this as well.

I like angles in which heels essentially playing the big fish in the small pond to big time everyone. Like WWF and WCW castoffs thinking they can come into ECW as hot shots and take over (i.e. "Superstar" Steve Austin in ECW), or former world champions thinking they can easily win their promotion's secondary title (i.e. former ECW World Champion Shane Douglas basically treating the ECW TV Title as small potatoes, causing Too Cold Scorpio to beat some respect into him). It's fool proof booking. If you lose to the guy who was in the big time/a former world champion, you lost to a formidable opponent. If you win, then it shows you're ready for the big time/that the promotion you wrestle for is on par with the bigger promotions or that you're ready to move up the card.

If they keep him heel, it might actually be interesting to see Goldust in this role. Keep Stardust/Cody away from it, make it Dustin snapping and going back to being "the bizarre one" and wanting the NXT belt because he never got a fair shot at the title or something. He can play any type of heel, can make any opponent's moveset look devastating, and could believably be the cagey veteran who is both a threat and cowardly, retaining by the sheer skin of his teeth.

Hardcore Holly would be amazing in this role, especially with his (exaggerated) reputation as someone who hates young wrestlers.

Hate the idea. I imagine it will do for the title what Big Show did for the ECW title.

Maybe Jericho could do something halfway worthwhile for a few weeks.

Might be cool. They don't even have to be 'vets' just guys on the main roster who get so cocky and come to NXT in order to take the title for themselves. My choices: And you know honestly, I think Del Rio would have been perfect for this role. He's good in the ring and can get the crowd to hate him if he's beating down a fan favorite like Zayn.

Hate the idea. I imagine it will do for the title what Big Show did for the ECW title. Big Show's title reign was pretty damn well-booked. The big problems were that toward the end of it he basically stopped defending it because he was in terrible shape by that point, and they wasted it in him getting squashed by Lashley despite nobody wanting to see that particular payoff.

HHH goes all Verne Gagne or Jerry Lawler and just puts the title on himself and keeps it that way for years.

Regal lets the power go to his head, books a Duchess of Queensbury match for the NXT title, wins it...and you go from there.
