It is pretty obnoxious. I like big butts but it's just this overload right now. It's wrapping around so that's the only acceptable way for a woman to look, and now women with small butts are being shamed for it. It's stupid. |

I love how people on the board blame this stupid article on the fact that the people behind it are white. It's a pretty big factor. White people saying white people just came up with this thing that's been around forever just because while people are now involved with it. That's the whitest thing since white came to White Town. Not really. The article is representative of the person that wrote it being a moron, not white people in general. Most of us are not as out of touch with minority culture as you think. This woman is a moron and is not a representative or spokesperson for all white people. Besides the woman who wrote it has the last name Garcia, and while it could be due to marriage, odds are she is Hispanic not white. |

I'll be the first to admit that white people have profited from black culture, and even given credit to the wrong people. For example, Chuck Berry should be considered the King of Rock n roll instead of Elvis. I absolutely agree about white people whitewashing history so to speak. However, I do actually think it is a good thing for society that culture gets intermingled like that, it's just that credit needs to go to the proper people. However, I disagree about white people laughing at black culture before embracing it. Most younger white people are not like this, it is old white people that are mostly at fault for this type of stuff, and to be honest I can't wait for that generation to die off so that minorities can see that most white people of today are not the assholes we are made out to be. Please don't blame the younger generations on the fact that our ancestors and even in some cases as recent as grandparents were a bunch of oppressive evil bastards. As for the Hispanic thing, yes I get the whole argument that there are white and black Hispanics, but I'm sure most white Hispanics would rather be considered Hispanic as opposed to white people. They may even take offense to it. And sorry if I got too much into Black culture in general for you. I think the reason I'm so defensive about this kind of stuff is because I'm a white person that lives in a predominantly black area, and I do experience racism due to it. In fact, one of my black friends has actually lost a couple of his black friends because he hangs out with me and he "shouldn't trust white people." I'm tired of my generation paying the price for my ancestors being total dicks. While there are still some racist idiots out there, most white people of my generation just want everyone to get along. So when I hear "white people this" or "white people that" I can't stand it, as it usually does not reflect the opinions of myself, my wife, my siblings, my friends, etc. Rant over. |

My take on the butts thing is this: mainstream media has absolutely hammered it in that the only attractive look is the main-line model look (definitively white facial features; tall; thin; flat-ish; perfect teeth; etc.). Everything else is inferior, the way that they present it. A lot of people find it really disingenuous, whether or not they believe it.
What really gets me is when there's someone of another culture or background who's given some kind of recognition and they end up being like, the whitest person imaginable. Kind of like the Miss America winners, i.e. the black ones (who are basically palette swaps of tall skinny white people) and Rima Fakih (I know Lebanese people are white, but they found probably the tallest, scrawniest Lebanese person on the entire planet). And it's trumpeted as celebrating diversity...how? Because an organization of the whitest people on the planet chose whoever most closely resembles a clone of one of them?
