So I found this on my tumblr dashboard just now.  So the US small is bigger than the AU large. Do you 'Mericans seriously drink that much Coke at McDonalds?  The ones on the left look like American cup sizes. I presume the Aussie ones are the same, then? Show's over, folks. Nothing to see here. More anti-America smear by some dude on a meme site (no, not calling you that, OP, just referring to whoever made this picture). |

I live in America and whenever I've gotten a drink at any fast food place over the years, the sizes were more like the ones on the left. |

We'll make a trade. If Australia can proved our McDonalds with more of that sweet sweet kangaroo meat for hamburgers, we'll give the Aussie Mcd's new improved drink sizes. Deal? Only if you guys agree to take Nicole Kidman as well. yet AU obseity rate compares almost exactly to ours , not saying that soda is the main culprit in all that - their diets must be poor for it to get like that We want to be number 1 at anything. The Wendy's cups in Canada are that huge. Same thing in America? Or Australia? The Wendy's/BK cups are in the same area code size wise- 20/21 for the small, 32 for the medium, 44 for the large. |

This looks right for the American cups, except the kids' cup. I think it is closer to the Japanese small. I thought drinks are now self-service at most fast food places, thus making size of the cups irrelevant. Most places are but I go to a few that are not and on top of that go through drive throughs quite a bit. I just wonder why they bother with sizes anymore when they charge $1 no matter size you order. These cup sizes have nothing on WhatABurger or Dairy Queen either. Now those are f***ing huge. |

Sizing for certain establishments here in America tend to be different depending on the establisment and what cups they decide to use.
As far as I've seen, the small Coke cup = medium drink in a fast food establishment
Medium coke cup = Fast food large
Large coke cup = Extra Large/"Super Size"

The one on the right is a movie drink cup not a Mcdonald's Cup And it makes sense they they are that big because they cost around 3.50, 4.50 or 5.50. though the biggest sizes usually give you one free refill. |
