Oh that should be interesting.....we've all seen plenty of stuff done about the team that shockingly won it all, how about the team that was expected to win it all and lost epically.

If you're gonna do an iconic moment (usually a 30 for 30 no-no, with the obvious exception of Four Days in October... which you all know my feelings on that one), try to tell the other side of the story. I am interested in what happened to the Soviet team after they took home the Bronze.

So we're never getting that Von Erich episode, eh? I think it's because WWE owns World Class footage, and still would want to direct it from a kayfabe point of view. Bill Simmons wished that a cultural perspective on Andre the Giant could have been done.

Bill Simmons wished that a cultural perspective on Andre the Giant could have been done. But wouldn't ESPN be able to use the footage from the World Class episodes they aired on their network for an in house documentary (much in the same way they're able to re-run old AWA Championship Wrestling episodes on ESPN Classic)? Also, speaking of wrestling on ESPN, they totally should do 30 for 30 shorts on Herb Abrams' UWF and the GWF.

To make matters worse, I cannot find any info on it because it's a "Friday Night Movie Night" film. ESPN doesn't have ANY information on these SportsCenter shorts, such as an upcoming schedule, that I can find Hell, they don't even mention "Friday Night Movie Night". Talk about being marginalized. In the 1980s, wrestling was a religion in Texas and the Von Erichs were worshipped. When they all started dying, a tragic coincidence became an ominous trend.

ESPN released the following:
SportsCenter’s “Friday Night Movie Night” Features Short Film on the Von Erich Wrestling Family
On Friday, Feb. 27, a new 30 for 30 Short will premiere on SportsCenter’s “Friday Night Movie Night” segment. The film, “Wrestling the Curse,” will air during the 6 p.m. hour of SportsCenter and be available for purchase on iTunes afterward.
“Wrestling The Curse”
The Adkissons had a successful family business in Texas, but it wasn’t a typical enterprise passed on from father Jack to his five sons. It was professional wrestling, and they were the “Von Erichs,” bringing entertainment to towns all across the Lone Star State in the 1980s — and heartbreak to themselves. Director Amanda Spain tells their story with the help of Kevin, “The Barefoot Wonder” and last surviving brother. Now at peace and living in Hawaii, Kevin bears witness to the perilous hold that wrestling still has on his family.
