- Jericho targeted Rey after they were involved in a world title number one contender's match with Jeff Hardy and Kane. Jericho blamed Mysterio for his loss starting their rivalry before Jericho decided he wanted Rey's mask along the way as well.
- The Extreme Rules match is the only Mysterio vs. Jericho match I put on my list as in my opinion, it's better than their Bash encounter.

11 Rey Mysterio, Jr vs. Dean Malenko - WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match - WCW The Great American Bash 1996 - 17 Points (Ranked #4 once)Behold, Rey Mysterio's debut match in WCW. The Iceman would walk into The Great American Bash not quite knowing who his opponent would be. And when Mysterio headed out for the match, one could only assume he didn't take him seriously. Malenko would soon learn how foolish not taking Rey Mysterio seriously could be. For 17 minutes, Mysterio and Malenko went back and forth, with Mysterio looking to make an immediate impact in his first WCW contest. In the end, Malenko would pin Mysterio after a powerbomb (using the ropes for leverage), and would head off with his belt in tow. But this match would not be forgotten. It's widely considered among the best debut matches of all time, and was even named WWE.com's "Five Star Match of the Week" several years after the fact.

10 Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero - Ladder Match for Custody of Dominick - SummerSlam 2005 - August 21, 2005 - 17 Points (Ranked #3 once)Yep, it's this match. How do we make such a convoluted storyline short? Well, I'll give it a go. Sometime after their friendly at WrestleMania 21, Eddie started to taunt Rey with a "secret" that he would tease telling every now and again. After several encounters with Rey (and some entertaining "Eddie's Bedtime Stories" segments), Eddie would make the secret known. Evidently, Rey was impotent, so he went to Eddie and asked him to help him in having a son, Dominick. Now, armed with the infamous "I'M YOUR PAPI!" catchphrase, he would attempt to win custody of little Dominick here. Besides having one of the most ridiculous premises in wrestling history driving it, this match is also notable for being the on-screen debut of Vickie Guerrero, who would turn on her husband and aid Rey in grabbing Dominick's custody papers, which were hanging above the ring.

9 Rey Mysterio & Edge vs. Los Guerreros vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit - Triple Threat Elimination Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships - Survivor Series 2002 - November 17, 2002 - 18 Points (Ranked #4 once)Shortly after the famous No Mercy match to determine the inaugural WWE Tag Team Championships (which we'll get to later, stay tuned), Mysterio and Edge would capture the titles from Benoit and Angle. Naturally, the first champs wouldn't stand for this, and so demanded their rematch at Survivor Series. But hold on, not content with 2/3rds of the SmackDown Six being involved, the decision was made to add Chavo and Eddie, Los Guerreros, to the match, and thus it became elimination rules. For those of you keeping track at home, that's all six members of the SmackDown Six in the same match, and boy, did they deliver. Angle and Benoit would go down first, following a Spear from Edge. The team of Rey and Edge seemed like they were sure to retain, but then Eddie locked Edge in the Lasso From El Paso. With nowhere to go, Edge tapped out, and Los Guerreros reigned supreme.

Be back at 3:30 for #8-1. In the meantime, I need somebody to pick either 1 or 2 to determine next week's subject.

8 Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs. Jushin "Thunder" Liger - WCW Starrcade 1996 - December 29, 1996 - 18 Points (Ranked #2 once)Billed as a special "One Time Only" encounter between the New Japan Pro Wrestling legend and The King of Mysteries, the two cruiserweight legends would go all out in one of Starrcade's best matches. Mysterio came very close to upsetting Liger, but one Liger Bomb later, and the Japanese Icon would have his win.

7 Rey Mysterio, Jr vs. Dean Malenko - WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match - WCW Monday Nitro - July 8, 1996 - 20 Points (Ranked #2 once)Widely remembered as one of Nitro's best matches (and included on WWE's "Best of Nitro Volume 1" DVD set), Mysterio/Malenko kicked off a month of Orlando tapings for Nitro. And what a way to kick it off. Mysterio was looking for revenge after coming up short against The Iceman at The Great American Bash. The two men would go back and forth before Rey hit the Huricanrana and won his first ever Championship in the United States.

(Image credit of Crappler) 6 Rey Misterio, Jr vs. Psicosis - 2 Out of 3 Falls Match - ECW Hardcore TV - October 7, 1995 - 23 Points (Ranked #2 once)Misterio and Psicosis had bad blood going back to their days in Mexico. And, like his feud with Juventud Guerrera, it would be visited again in WCW. But before all that, the two would face off in 2 Out of 3 Falls on ECW's Hardcore TV. Through guardrails and fans they'd go, but in the end, the day would belong to Psicosis, who would put Rey away 2 falls to 1.

5 Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle - SummerSlam 2002 - August 25, 2002 - 31 Points (Ranked #2 once)Angle said of this match that it would be like a grown man playing with a little boy...not like that, as he tried to clarify. But the size difference between the two was considerable. Add the fact that this was Rey's first ever WWE PPV match, and the fact that Angle was as dangerous as ever (despite looking like an Olympic barber pole that night), and things seemed to be tilted heavily in Angle's favor. And Angle did win, make no mistake. My Olympic Hero would reverse a huricanrana into an Ankle Lock, forcing Rey to tap out. But before that, Rey and Kurt would open up my favorite PPV of all time with one of the best opening contests of all time.

4 Rey Mysterio, Jr vs. Psychosis - WCW Bash At The Beach 1996 - July 7, 1996 - 31 Points (Ranked #2 twice)While best remembered for the formation of the New World Order, Bash at the Beach '96 wasn't a one-man show, as Mysterio and Psychosis would prove in the night's opening contest. The two rivals would go at it with the passion they had brought in our #6 contest. And things seemed destined to end the same way. Psychosis had Mysterio set up for Splash Mountain, but Mysterio would reverse into a huricanrana to put his old rival down.

3 Rey Mysterio and Edge vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - WWE Tag Team Championship Match - No Mercy 2002 - October 20, 2002 - 50 Points (Ranked #1 once)Some people call this WWE's best Tag Team match ever. After seeing this match, one would be hard-pressed to find a better one. Stephanie McMahon, SmackDown's general manager, lost the World Tag Team Champions to the Draft. So she would do the only logical thing and establish a new set of Tag Team Championships for SmackDown. And how better to crown the inaugural champs than with a big tournament? Angle and Benoit were at each other's throats, but were forced to work together upon pain of suspension and loss of salary if they were to attack each other. Meanwhile, Edge and Mysterio almost-immediately gelled over the course of the tournament, thus setting up this final. The two teams would put on an absolute clinic, marking a fantastic first chapter in the history of the WWE Tag Team Championships. In the end, Edge would be forced to tap out to the Ankle Lock, thus giving the odd couple pair the Championships.
