Don't think L'ville has the horses unfortunately.
Was hoping ND would take out FSU then lose down the road.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Baylor redshirt senior QB Bryce Petty's "performance in the West Virginia game was discouraging to see and summed up several of his issues as he transitions to the next level."

That was a case of Houston being on probation also, so Pardee was running up the scores every game he could to pad Andre Ware's heisman campaign. Also enabled him to bring his run and shoot offense to the Oilers the following year as it was the "offense of the future" and he was considered the guru.

Side Note
in the 1990 opener- Pardee's first game as Oilers' head coach- Houston played the Atlanta Falcons and were blown out 47-27. Falcons HC Jerry Glanville dedicated the game ball to the SMU team.

Was there ever any doubt? I mean, it doesn't make sense for him to stick around in college for one more year.

I knew it would be UT or UM who did it first, but did the source of this say football only or all student athletes? Even better do you have a link for it?

The full thing from Rotoworld
The figure, set by U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken in her O’Bannon trial ruling in August, will be split evenly, so that $5,000 will go towards cost-of-attendance and $5,000 will serve as payment for UT’s use of the athlete’s name and likeness. In all, the school will be on the hook for about $6 million. "If we begin to [further] remunerate the participants, that’s going to break that model," Chris Plonsky, director for women’s sports at Texas, said. The school hasn't announced when it will begin to make these payouts, though next fall seems like a reasonable guess. Texas is the first school to announce it will compensate its athletes beyond scholarships following August's O'Bannon ruling. Presumably, all Power Five program will follow suit.

I'm just wondering out loud about the inevitable Title IX challenge, which I'm sure will be coming. Reason I said it would be Texas or Michigan first is they can laugh in the face at the risk of losing federal funding. Most schools can't, so the ones with the bucks go first.
