Man, the Earth Kingdom is pretty much the middle east of the Avatar universe.

3 year time skip whooo. So that puts Korra at about 21, I think?

Cool. I'll skip it like I did season three.
Though the timeskip's probably a good idea. One of the biggest issues season two and beyond have is that the show was clearly only intended as a one season story so they just have to strain to come up with something for everyone to do. Which isn't helped by how they absolutely refuse to drop any characters.
I really, really wish the show had just been the one season and they'd have done a different show instead for the follow-up. Given Korra is pretty much by and large a complete flop of a series they're only continuing due to the later stuff having already been in production, it's hard to imagine there'll be any sort of follow up now.

Cool. I'll skip it like I did season three. Congrats on missing out on the one season that was actually good, I guess.

I'm looking forward to Friday and not just because it's Friday. Most of the characters look like they grew during the three years time skip. I'm trying not to predict this, that, and the third and just watch book 4. I need to stop messing around and rewatch book 3.

Hell, even Book 2 got good in its 2nd half when there seems to have been a committee meeting to stop characterizing Korra as everything opposite of what she'd learned towards the end of Book 1. Also, more points for jettisoning the Mako/Korra/Asami business and having the gumption to run a proper break-up storyline in what was, at least at the time (they seem to have embraced that its audience now mostly skews towards the adult end of the specturm), a children's show.
There's also the fact that the Avatar Wan business was one of the best uses of 40-minutes TV time I've ever witnessed in my life.
Cannot wait 'til Friday evening.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Fight Club Korra If you'd not been remotely following the production, the tone of it still points toward an ending; sombre undercurrent and the waste no time in establishing where the series is going. There's no meandering.

Okay Book 4 is here. {Spoiler}Okay it was a great start. A three year time skip is something I wasn't expecting, it is awesome to see it gives a lot of possiblities and character growth, mostly with the air kids. Jinorra and Kai can actually be a real couple and not this kiddie couple, Ikki grows closer to woman hood, Meelo has hair, and Rulan can actually talk.
Like I predicted, the Red Lotus like the Equalists before them are non exident, though all of this is the result of the Red Lotus. We have to deal with bandits and Kuvira's army. I think everyone thought Suyan's comment about the Earth Kingdom royality was opsolute, they were right, but it was Suyan's followers that probably heard that how many times from her that is taking it to heart and doing something about it.
This Earth Prince is so annoying, Bosco is the only member of the Earth Kingdom royal family that is actually gone, everyone else is either a jerk or just incompident. Poor Mako. And Asami she looks great, the time skip was kind to her.
Kuvira wants to rule the whole Earth Kingdom that is one thing I can forgive, but you are breaking up Bolin and Opal, no unforgivable. I hope Bolin redems himselfd they reconcile.
The ending I was scared, when Tonraq said Korra wasn't there, I thought perhaps Kuvira had already captured her. Korra doing some MMA like fighting that is awesome. But Korra turning her back on the world, we are on the verge of a 100 year war II. I think what we are seeing with Kuvira the early stages of Sozin trying to conquer the world, probably started with the best intention but slowly become all about power and evil. So this could show us what if Roku or Aang tried to stop Sozin early in his path.
And where is the scene of Korra leaving for the SWT three years earlier, I guess that is a flashback in a later episode. Speaking of flashbacks, we are going to see what happened in the 3 years when Korra caught up on it, Korra and the audiance will be caught up at the same time.
10 / 10 great to have Korra back.

Fun premiere, the egotistical prince was hilarious. Also here's a quick Korra/Mako doodle I did because I dunno.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}I do find it a bit strange that Korra can get battered by Amon, Zaheer and Vatu, yet it takes 6 months of fight club for her to actually show a bruise for once. It's probably just a means of portraying how long Korra's been at it, I suppose.

Who cares about Korra, or anyone else. The important news is Todd Haberkorn joins the cast. I am all fired up.

Definitely a builder this week, where its payoff is deferred, {Spoiler}but having troll Toph in there saved it from being just a necessary tension maker. NickToons are back on board with airing Korra, so this show might actually get some hype, and, well, people talking about it again.

I took a break from Korra halfway through season 2 because I felt the stuff I didn't like was far outwaying the stuff I liked about it, but I went through a bit of a binge this week, I caught up to season 3, started watching season 4 and appearantly this show suddenly started kicking ass when I wasn't looking. Season 3 started off a little rocky (more whacky airbender hijinks, odious comic relief villain, obvious traitors being obvious) but it it turned around very well towards the end, lots of great action complete with two pretty brutal deaths, captivating antagonists with lots of mystique and it set pretty cool stage for them to play around in now for season 4 and they're doing a great job expanding it further so far. I'm really liking the Earth Empire stuff and what do you know, Korra actually has to WORK to fully recover from a fight for once and doesn't get everything handed to her by the spirits. Good stuff.

{Spoiler}I like that Toph justified the goals of the villains that Korra has dealt with, only criticizing the methods and extremes that they went to to achieve them. That's one thing Korra has actually done better, the big bads do seem to have a grievance, rather than just wanting power or being cruel.

The Earth Empire/Nazi analogue went from inferred to overt last week, whatwith the 're-education camps'. I like it, it's gone from distinctly metaphysical to, pardon the pun, a more earthy antagonist. AvatarSteve on the KorraWiki brought up a great point, that I'm sticking in tags to be safe. {Spoiler}The next Avatar in the cycle is due to be of Earth Kingdom/Empire origin. It'd give Kuvira motivation to slay Korra so she can raise the next Avatar in her image.

I know the Nazi comparison tends to be easy, but honestly if anything, it's more similar to the original People's Republic of China.Kuvira is a Communist, not a Nazi.
