I mean, the poster you quote is gonna get a notification about it, so you better make sure it's a damn good post, and not a complete waste of their time. Like, if they see they've got a notification, they're gonna be all kinds of excited. It's either gonna be a like or someone's quoted them. But they see somebody has quoted them and all it turns out to be is a 'QFT', they're gonna be all kinds of pissed.
I'm just saying, these days you've gotta be really careful about quoting people, 'cause you don't wanna piss people off or make them cry. Not like the old days when you didn't get a notification when someone quoted you. You could've made a post and someone could've quoted you, but you might never visit the thread again, so you'd never know.
Just think about this the next time you quote someone.

I prefer getting notifications, just in that I don't want people to think I am disregarding their replies to me, especially if they put a lot of effort into it, just because I don't catch it.

Whenever that thing comes up that someone has quoted me, I generally wonder what I've done wrong.

It's less quoting someone else and more getting quoted by someone else that fills me with dread.

It's less quoting someone else and more getting quoted by someone else that fills me with dread. I came in here to post this exact thing. Every time I see that someone's quoted me, I automatically assume I've pissed someone off or said something really stupid. Because, you know, that's usually the case.
