Coming next summer from Judd Apatow - "This is 40 (world title reigns)" starring John Cena! Sounds like they cast him well in the role at least. {Spoiler}not that he's gay, but just as a muscle-bound guy who comes off as dim-witted. I figured Cena would be best suited for bascially doing a parody of Mark Walhberg. Though if you REALLY want to hear a terrific Wahlberg impression, listen to when "Mark Walhberg" is on Doug Loves Movies POdcast.

I can't help but wonder since she wrote the film if him being gay is a jab at Ziggler or something. There's zero "wonder" involved imo. Amy's said the film is (at least semi-)autobiographical. It seems blatant to me. Damn y'all, Ziggler even jobs to Cena in fiction!

Since this is a Judd Apatow production, is it safe to assume the movie is well over two hours long with a few funny scenes sporadically thrown in the first half, then takes a turn towards dramatic in act two?

I remember the first time I ever had coffee. I was a kid and wanted to try it since I loved the way it smelled, and I sort of expected it to taste that way, I guess. Imagine my surprise at just the intense wave of bitter that hit my tongue. It's an acquired taste, I know, but as a kid, that's just not a flavor you run into much, with most kid foods tending towards sweet or savory.
Pretty much any thread about Cena lately leaves me with much the same sensation. I think Nailz has a warmer opinion of Vince than the section has of Cena.

I just feel bad for Ziggler.
Cena gets all the shots in WWE then he plays him in a movie.
I don't find Schumer funny...but I'll probably give this a shot.

I liked everything up until written by Amy Schumer and directed by Judd Apatow..... so itll be 2 hours of dick and vagina jokes, and random "So SHOCKING and RAUNCHY" nudity or sex scene.... strong pass. However news of Cena doing unPG things could mean that fabled heel turn is coming.

I just realized Cena has been eskimo brothers with Ziggler twice. Well sort off since this a movie production and not a poronography production but still. Ziggler is probably in a dark place playing some Fugazi records upon reading this news.

Maybe that's what Cena's theme says:

I'd find it funny if, after all these years of bagging on people for making a name in WWE only to leave at the first sign of real mainstream success, John Cena becomes a legitimate movie star and tells WWE to go screw. I've always thought if he'd ever had a successful vehicle before this, he'd have been LONG gone.

I really hate the IWC sometimes. If Dolph Ziggler were cast in the movie and the exact same article was written about him, I bet everyone would be saying "Of course Ziggler is the funniest--he's so naturally talented. WWE is misusing him."
I get that Cena has been in the main picture for God knows how long--but it wasn't for IWC favorites like Punk quitting and Daniel Bryan getting injured (not his fault of course), then they wouldn't have to depend on the guy.
Can't people just say nice things about the guy? It's like he's the devil or something. People would be cheering if this guy had a career ending injury for crying out loud.
Sheesh.

I've always thought if he'd ever had a successful vehicle before this, he'd have been LONG gone. I don't know if I agree necessarily. Hell, Rock was stepping out before he even had all that much success yet, certainly compared to later stuff like his joining the Fast and the Furious series, etc. I think if Cena wanted out, he could probably get plenty of work, even if it wouldn't necessarily be high profile. I wonder, though, if he's looking more now that he's getting older and he's running out of miracles and comebacks in that body of his. He sometimes looks like he's aged 15 years in 10, and that has to weigh on him.

How does Ziggler relate to this, exactly?

How does Ziggler relate to this, exactly? He and Schumer were a couple for a while.

He's had an unprecedented run on top. Made a lot of money. Seems like a swell guy. I wish him all the best. But he is holding WWE back in countless regards whether he is trying to or not. Also I don't buy for a second that Punk leaving and DB being injured have changed things that dramatically, like they were really ever going to de-emphasize Cena. Punk and Bryan were both around in December and January, and we still got two months of Cena vs. Orton PPV main events.

I disgaree, I really don't think Cena would've had this post-WM run with Bryan around. I definitely think they plugged him right onto the tracks set up for Bryant, leading, up to SummerSlam then losing to Brock then going for rematches. Cena likely would've carried on with Bray a little longer or maybe onto the Orton/Rollins stuff earlier.
Punk, I don't know. I think if he stayed he'd still be there or thereabouts, more likely the latter.
As for the movie, we'll have to see how it does with the actual critics and box office first. I can't put too much weight on this.

The reason they gave Cena the Big Gold in the first place was to de-emphasize him for a bit, it's not Cena's fault that while he was holding the B-title on the B-show that they decided to focus on Big Show. It was only when they decided to unify the titles that he was back in the spotlight.

I was actually going to say that if the experience was based on Ziggler, then we should expect Cena's character to spout lazy, kinda sexist bro humor that ultimately masks deep self-doubt. Ziggler's a great wrestler. He's not funny.
