Also, in other Always Sunny episodes, Frank isn't so much being a prick toward them, but he wants them to learn life lessons by having them face their problems on their own ('The Gang Gets Whacked'). He's just handing down life lessons.

Hank Hill is a decent human being but sometimes he is a dick for the dumbest reasons. In Sleight of Hank he acts like a baby at the magic show and then gets mad at Peggy when she doesn't tell him how the trick was done. He even locks her in a box and won't let her out until she agrees to tell him.

He's just handing down life lessons. I will accept all of the instances of Frank being human. That doesn't keep him from being an absolute dick the majority of the time. Charlie is the purest among them but that isn't saying much. If not Frank, Dennis is clearly the worst because of "the implication" and his tools. He had to learn it from somewhere though.

That Tom and Jerry episode where Tom is going to inherit money. He does nothing at all to Jerry yet Jerry keeps trying to cost him his fortune. In fact, if I remember right, Jerry was a dick in most episodes. Homer-Which one's the mouse? Bart -Itchy. Homer- Itchy's a jerk. Bart - Yeah.

So I guess the obvious answer of everyone basically always being a dick to Meg on Family Guy is out? I often wonder if the real joke there is, we all know it's Mila Kunis, we all know she's insanely hot, so batting down her character is part of the gag? I just thought it was because pre-comeback, Meg was just the least popular character.

Avatar: The Last Airbender in general, really. I finally decided to check it out and I swear, every episode that doesn't directly focus on the war starts with at least one of the characters being a dick for no reason in a completely out of character manner, just so we can set up the moral for the episode. It actually becomes rather grating, especially when a moral was already covered in a previous episode, making it look like the characters simply learned nothing. Couldn't the writers just have an extra be the dick (Then again, the usually do so having one of the main characters act like one as well is pointless and redundant)? Or better yet, realize that not every episode needs a moral (or at least not have it so heavy-handed) and just write an interesting story. I would not say that it was ever out of character, though. When not dealing with the war, what is the group other than a bunch of teenagers running around the countryside with little to no adult supervision? When is it ever out of character for a teenager to be unreasonably surly for a day or two? Just because they're teenagers doesn't cancel out their personalities and yet most of the time, these conflicts directly contradict what we know about them, requiring them to act completely differently from the way they normally do for it to "work". And like I said, it'd be one thing if it actually helped them grow as characters but since they've been acting out of character, they usually just "learn" something they already knew and just wait a few episodes and they're right back where they started and have to learn the same thing all over again, making even less sense this time because they've been there before. And like you said "a day or two" would be alright, not "every goddamn day". We really don't need every episode to be like this, with one or two characters acting like dicks, then they go through some events that make them "learn" something (that they already knew) and they spell out the lesson for the day and now they know and knowing is half the battle GI JOOOOOEEEEEEEE. If it were once in a while it'd be fine and might actually help build the characters but as it is, it distracts from a genuinely good story with unnecessary baggage that is treated like a big deal except it won't actually have any consequence on the characters or the story, leaving me to wonder why it's even there in the first place. I'm sorry but it's just no fun to see people bicker over petty bullshit over and over again.

The Thanksgiving episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Willow constantly tries to stop Buffy and friends from fighting the demonic killer of the week because it happens to be Native American.

Lisa in any ecocentric episode of The Simpsons. SHe is flat-out intolerant that other people have different views.

I know this isn't a tv show but The Warriors has Ajax and I know a lot of people consider him to be a major dick.
Also John Cena when he doesn't bother to help his "friends"

Also, if we can expand to commercials...just any kids in a Trix commercial.

Since King of the Hill has popped up a few times I have to mention the episode where Bobby became the School Mascot. That's King of the Hill at it's absolute worst because it's a school tradition where the Mascot gets beat up by the losing team. Bobby gets understandably scared and runs away and Hank completely alienates him and acts ashamed. Even Bobby's teachers start bullying him for not letting the football players beat him up.

Rachel in that episode of Friends when she wouldn't get ready in time for Ross' big night (I forget what occasion it was). She knew it was an important evening for him, but she kept pissing around, making him anxious and worried they'd be late for the event. Naturally he ended up apologising to her for some reason, when she was completely in the wrong.

Not the RR's fault that the Coyote buys crappy products.

Also, the only time I remember Charlie being a prick was in 'Charlie and Dee Find Love', when he meets that girl, gets into a relationship with her, and then dumps her in an ugly way for no good reason other than the fact that he feels that he needs to keep stalking the waitress, or else the universe will explode. That's easily my least favorite episode of "It's Always Sunny...", because it's really the first time in which Charlie displays an evil, malicious side. A lot of the time, his perceived dickishness can be attributed to him being aloof and clearly the dumbest person in the group, but that was an episode in which he showed that he can be as ruthless and cruel as Dennis, Dee, or anyone else in the gang. I have no problem with the way people act in that episode, because Bobby overinflates the mascot beating in his head. He thinks he's going to really get his ass kicked, when everyone knows it's just a friendly bit of rival hazing. And in the end, Bobby sees the importance of what it means to stand up and take his "beating", when he steals the armadillo and taunts the rival crowd in their own section of bleachers.

Rachel does show herself to be pretty horrible for a good length of the show's run, honestly. Monica gets weird later on with her stupid competitiveness, which to me would be something borderline friend-fireable. Phoebe is awful for a good long time but kind of bounces back in later seasons. Joey and Chandler are generally good guys who makes mistakes, unless you consider that Joey is pretty much a user of women, but in a world where their show overlapped with Family Guy being on the air he seems pretty tame by comparison. And Ross... Ross was just made into an idiot more than anything, his character was assassinated from the second the Emily marriage shattered.
But thinking about it, Rachel really is horrible. - Leaves Harry at the alter for basically no reason. Later sleeps with him again, despite the fact that he is with her best friend. - Is completely resentful and hateful towards Julie, who is completely innocent in the entire situation and knows nothing of Rachel's feelings which, lest we forget, Ross doesn't know about either - Goes to ruin Ross's wedding - Lies to Ross's face about being mad at him over being left at the airport, when OBVIOUSLY Ross would go after his recently jilted wife - Exchanges every gift she ever receives without even checking with the original purchaser whether they're okay with that
That's just off the top of my head, I could probably think of more.
