I'll bet ol' Vin-Man doesn't even realize it. It's probably completely slipped his mind. He's likely seen the promo (with hijacked Yes chants) and thought, "Wow! The WWE Universe is REALLY into the Network! Just listen to how excited they are!). Vince McMahon swallows so much of his own **** so eagerly, he's like his own Human Centipede. He's an ouroboros?

WWE could have just made all their old PPVs and a ****load of other content available on Hulu, or Netflix, or even a monetized YouTube channel and just raked in the cash. Heck, they could have just streamed the PPVs on their website or the WWE App for a flat fee of $10 or even $20 and cut out the PPV providers entirely.
But no. Of course not. This is WWE. They can't do anything the normal way. Why settle for making a ton of money with no cost (and no RISK) by putting their videos on YouTube when they can sink tens of millions of dollars into their own Network, gutting their revenue AND pissing off PPV providers at the same time.
What's the use of letting wrestlers enter a bodybuilding competitions, even low-level ones, to increase brand awareness when we can start an entire bodybuilding FEDERATION of our own!
Same as they couldn't just have Linda run for an entry-level elected office. Maybe mayor? Something to get her foot in the door. Nooooo. Let's spend ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS running for ***damn SENATE.
Or, hey, how about sponsoring an NFL team? There's a thought. Awesome exposure for your brand aimed squarely at the target demographic. **** that! Let's buy our own football LEAGUE! And let's pay our players almost NOTHING, thus guaranteeing that nobody with pro-level talent will even CONSIDER joining the league.
Somebody pop this bubble that they've been living in for so long. Please?

It's a pretty scummy move this.
Trading on peoples affection and sympathy for a guy who is pretty clearly seriously injured, it's looking like he might be missing a year of action, to sell your product is terrible. And then to not even mention Bryan on the show, well it's the WWE so I'm not surprised.

Had they used *previous* YES chants, it would have been fine. Kind of a self-deprecating in-joke. But outright tricking the fans (who paid a lot more than 9.99 for their tickets) into making it looks like they overwhelming support WWE's latest ill-advised money-sink is just scummy as ****.
If there's one consolation, it's that D-Bry came up through the indies and likely has a lot of that old-school sensibility. So, much like King being totally cool with using his heart attack as an angle, Bryan was was probably cool with it.

They got burned when they tried to work investors with the TV deal debacle.
They still haven't learned their lessons.

You'd think they'd have enough stock footage of the YES chant that they wouldn't need to pull a stunt like that just for a network promo.
Or why even bother have Vince do a YES chant anyway? Last time he was on TV, he was opposing the mere thought of Daniel Bryan as a main event talent anyway.

They got burned when they tried to work investors with the TV deal debacle. They still haven't learned their lessons. Or when they put out a fake press release saying that Donald Trump had purchased Monday Night Raw... Bubble. There's no way, absolutely no way, that at least a half a dozen people didn't say "It may not be a good idea to put out a phony press release saying that our flagship program has been purchased by an outside investor". But because of that bubble, nobody with the power to stop it even *considered* doing so. WWE doesn't *learn* lessons when they **** up. Vice: Millionaire who should be a (legit) billionaire.

"Cheer if you like boobs" That would have been fine. Hell, having the t-shirt gun guy start a YES chant would have been fine. So would have been just about ANYTHING else that wasn't "Show your support for a guy who got hurt after we started booking him to work multiple matches per night" would have been fine. Milking the fans emotions just so they can make it look like people give any kind of enthusiastic **** about their "network" just skeeves me right out.

I knew that segment had to have been done in post-production because WWE had not done this announcement yet when SmackDown was taped. I knew they were using footage of fans chanting 'Yes!' and adding in Vince to the Tron later. I figured that they found footage of an old crowd or something. I didn't read spoilers so I didn't know about them doing the Daniel Bryan update with Big Show. I knew I was seeing something manufactured, but I didn't know to what extend WWE went to make it happen.

Why didn't they just get Daniel Bryan to shill the network?

Why didn't they just get Daniel Bryan to shill the network? That would have been too easy, you see. Having the de-facto number one guy, the champion selected by the fans, who never actually LOST the belt, deliver a promo about how watching the WWE Network while he's rehabbing is fueling his desire to get back in that ring as soon as possible? That wouldn't go over NEARLY as well as having Vinny Mac shill it. Christ, just use the canned hair-dryer seagull pop and be ****ing done with it.

You can get all up in arms about it or just say "That's stupid" and move on. Not that big of a deal in the long run

I'm waiting for the inevitable parodies. Vince finishes his speech and it's the "Japan Surrenders" celebration footage, for example.

Basically... Subscribing to the WWE Network at launch was the worst thing you could do. The launch subscribers have not been given a single perk. I was at Battleground and they were giving out a free shirt of your choice to people who signed up. I said that since I signed up literally the first second you could, could I get a shirt.. Was told no(I expected that). I will also not be getting this free November. Definitely regret signing up. I also may cancel in December when the commitment goes away and wait for the next incentive to come around. As it is, I feel a bit pissed on. Because you don't like the network? Or because if you had waited you would have got something for 'free'? You realise if you had waited you wouldn't have been able to watch the network until you signed up right? Man.. They coulda gave me a damn shirt.

WWE have really crossed the line this time. Vince is literally worse than hitler. Come on, man... I know hyperbole is our thing around these parts, but let's not get stupid with it. (Unless you were joking all along, then you should have really indicated it as such a lot clearer)
