They look like superheroes, so I think what they need most is a good villain team to go up against.
Like, maybe add a third weirdo to the Dust Brothers. The opposing color schemes alone would set up a classic "good vs. evil" dichotomy. Classically heroic faces fighting a team of weird psychos? Sounds pretty good to me, plus the matches would be great.
I think they'll do fine if the WWE creates a few more three-man teams for them to face.

I can't tell what point you're getting at here, but I really hope it's not as ignorant as I'm thinking it may be. Yeah, I hope it's not as ignorant as people in the thread calling it RACIST and/or claiming it's a "stereotype" gimmick. It just struck me as either A) you meaning that minorities claim racism because they're insecure or B) minorities claim racism because so many others do so they tend to go with the flow. I hope it's neither because my faith in some of this boards members is still recovering after the Punk podcast thread. Furthermore, it is NEVER a persons call to determine what people from different backgrounds should or should not find offensive, especially when it comes to wrestling, a business with a long and storied history of tastelessness.

A New Day is a black wrestling trope, appealing to the lowest common denominator.

I need to see these guys do some promos before I'm ready to bury this idea.

I'd kinda like to see em go full schizophrenic with it: be smiley and happy in the entrance, the brutal as hell in the match, then right back to smiley and happy after they've decimated someone.

A New Day is a black wrestling trope, appealing to the lowest common denominator. Unlike the subtle sophistication that most pro wrestling angles offer?

Can't they give at least one black guy an actual good gimmick for once? Mark Henry: World Heavyweight Champion.

A New Day is a black wrestling trope, appealing to the lowest common denominator. If it is those things, then just out of curiosity: If the New Day was, say, Zack Ryder, Sami Zayn, and Ryback (so, three comparable performers, but all white guys)- same costumes, same way they act in the ring, same video- literally everything about the gimmick is the exact same, but it's on some white guys: Would people still say it's stereotypical or racist?

They would say that they were "culture jacking" black culture.

Mabe not, but that would actually be besides the point anyway, as there is nothing derogatory about singing, dancing, clapping, and "overcoming". What is derogatory, however, is overly portraying black people as singing, dancing, clapping, "overcoming", or aggressive. Neither would it be racist to portray a black character as a genius, a spy, a doctor, absolutely perfect, an intellectual savior of the unwashed masses, or having supernatural powers. The problem is when the majority of the thoughtful things go to the white performers, and the majority of the black performers receive the emotionally impulsive things. I really should make a separate thread about racism in pro wrestling.

Much like the misguided Edge and Christian or 3MB comparisons earlier. You know this comparison doesn't work right? The last sentence in particular is intellectually dishonest. Ah yes, me saying I could see these entertaining dudes doing similar things as Edge and Christian is so misguided. HowStupidofMe

UM, yeah? You mean if those 3 came out to gospel funk music and were dancing in front of an all-black choir with Ryback impersonating a southern black preacher? Yeah, racist as shit, in a way that is mocking black people. That's exactly how it would come off. It'd be the same as two white guys doing Cryme Tyme, stealing things and "bringing the hood to us". I can't call it "racist" becuase, like Cryme Tyme, maybe these guys came up with the gimmick themselves and are having fun with it. But it's definitely playing on trite stereotypes.

Kinda silly gimmick but I'll take happy black man over angry black man. Since those seem to be the only gimmicks the writers are comfortable writing, cause barely anybody in entertainment can write a black character without them being the angry, hardboiled guy or some happy go lucky smiling type. Well, do you trust them to write a black nerd character without it being just like Urkel? No I think the only black character they can write is 'angry oppressed black dude' or 'happy go lucky like kofi kingston'

Okay, I'm 20 seconds into the clip and already I hate them more than I've hated anything ever. Kofi seems exactly the same happy-go-smiley character he been for 10 years now, Xavier Woods is the most punchable person in the WWE, and now I hate Big E simply by association. The big question is, will there be ANY character development? Ever? I really really doubt it. Seriously? Heath Slater is right there!

I think in the vein of the Shield's powerbomb, their team finisher should be a triple team jumping reverse STO.

This entire gimmick can be saved if they do their smiling positivity stuff at inappropriate moments, like while a guy is being stretchered out, someone's doing a heartfelt speech about the potential end of his career, or a group of heels is beating down a babyface.
