Winston is not contemplating staying. He isn't. He is keeping his name in the headlines and trending. Yesterday he got a top block headline on ESPN by saying he would announce his choice after the national title game. You know, so his name is the one people talk about instead of Oregon or Ohio state. Schools sometimes wait until after the titles game to bother with coaching searches or announcements so it has more impact. Winston is marketing himself. I don't care. I just want him out of college football. He is a side show that takes time on TV and attention away from the good things in this sport. If he wants to go to the draft, good for him. I hope he goes early but I won't care not a single bit....unless Jerry somehow drafts him. I seriously might boycott my own team if he ends up with Dallas

That way, I could get on here and say exactly what you said. Multiple sources tell Yahoo's Rand Getlin that Florida State QB Jameis Winston is "seriously considering" staying in school for 2015. What could possible go wrong Eh, I see the reasoning. He doesn't want to end his career like he did and capture some redemption next year. Good on him, really. Agreed. If he decides to return to school, I give him props. I think he's ready to go pro but if he does return for another year, nothing wrong with that. Even though I'm sure people will find a reason to criticize him if he does.

I was halfway expecting Winston to stay in school. FSU will protect him from the authorities more than the NFL would

FSU redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston will enter the 2015 NFL Draft, according to David Hale of ESPN. Not at all surprised by this. As I've said before, it doesn't make any sense for him to stay in college for another year.

Jameis is making a mistake.
I don't think the NFL money is worth it and quite frankly, when you go pro after your sopohomore year.... how many times has it worked?
Being a top 3 draft pick is overrated, anyway.

If you can't perform because you don't have the experience or the maturity, you're going to not make nearly as much as the senior who can handle his duty. And if you fail regardless? At least if you stay in school for four years you have an education to fall back on, and not go broke like so many players do.

Florida State redshirt sophomore QB Jameis Winston could go No. 1 overall, according to ESPN's Mel Kiper.

Now on Memel Kiper...dude I stopped listening to your drivel some Time back. It seems to change once a minute on who is going first, second or third and who is not getting picked up. Not knocking your expertise but you are an entertainer not an analyst. You are doing this to string people into your blogs, twitter, newsletters etc. no buys pal.

Who the hell is Memel Kiper? Fat finger version of an ESPN contributer who "specializes" in the NFL draft

The whole "having an education" argument always seemed a bit shallow to me.
For starters, a lot of athletes on Winston's level aren't really interested in getting a true education, and he's not going to care more by staying longer. Secondly, it won't make him not waste the money, since financial management is not a required course. Finally, if he doesn't waste his money, it's not like he could never go back to school. College isn't the NCAA, you don't have 5 years and are excluded.
That said, I absolutely agree with the argument that some players shouldn't declare because they have more development to do and limit their careers not by being as complete as they could be. I think it happened in the NBA until they restricted it.

Red, the NBA changed one rule but that created almost a worse problem. One and done.
