Thanks for pointing out what I was about to say, guys. At least Lesnar had legit wrestling experience and was a two time NCAA champion so it made sense from a legit, competitive perspective that this guy could hang with other fighters.
In what world does Punk deserve to compete in the biggest MMA company in the world? It's such an obvious publicity stunt.

Funny I dont remember Batista, Lashley, or Brock failing without much experience and even someone like Del Rio was fairly successful so I dont see why Punk cant be decent. Dana White already said he would pit him against someone at his level meaning 0-0 if he signed. Batista had one fight. Lashley and Brock had actual wrestling experience in college. And Del Rio's only wins were against a bunch of noobs. Jiu Jitsu or not, the guy sure as hell wasn't training to became a mixed martial artist at all, so if he has to go up against someone who actually has been, lack of experience or not, I expect him to get his ass kicked. How do you know he hasn't been training? Maybe he has, maybe he hasn't but I find it funny that a guy who is notorious for keeping everything thing he can private all of a sudden has us with all the knowledge in his life.

I wouldn't be surprised if the deal falls through before Punk's first fight, to be honest. Nothing at all against him and it's great that he wants to move on from WWE, but is the potential to get legit f***ed up really worth the money (and Punk's made it rather clear that he doesn't need the money)?

There's not a single thing about this that isn't insane. I absolutely do not see how this could end well and admit that thought the idea was absolutely ridiculous.
I'm so f***ing looking forward to it now.

And he's right, too.(Well, maybe not about the best WW in the world, but he's certainly 'UFC quality')

Funny I dont remember Batista, Lashley, or Brock failing without much experience and even someone like Del Rio was fairly successful so I dont see why Punk cant be decent. Dana White already said he would pit him against someone at his level meaning 0-0 if he signed. There's a BIG difference though. Let's completely disregard Brock. He's not the guy to compare this to. Brock was a national champion amateur wrestler which is one of the main MMA styles. If you're a good wrestler, you can succeed and Brock's physical attributes cannot be understated. The guy is legitimately a freak of nature. Batista and Lashley did not go to UFC. In Batista's case, he had ONE fight in Strikeforce and his MMA career was over. Lashley had a lot more fights, but he wasn't fighting the best of the best and was fighting in what was essentially the indies of UFC. Batista and Lashley are/were the same age as Punk when they decided to get deeper into MMA as well. Punk is going into arguably the most competitive division in all of MMA. I'm sure he's going to have a relatively easy first fight, but make no mistake, White is doing this to get people to watch. They're only going to watch Punk fight low level competitors for so long and Punk's own ego will be put to the test. If he does win, he'll be forced to fight a more seasoned fighter and I have absolutely 0 confidence in Punk to be successful fighting in this division. It's good for UFC in terms that they will get more crossover audience, but I don't have much faith in Punk at all. IMO this is a stunt, whether its a "dream" of Punk's or w/e.

...Oh my god. oh. Oh my god.
I just realized this means he might actually fight the Green Power Ranger one day.
I'd buy the shit out of that pay per view.

Eh, if he wants to venture into the Octagon, more power to him. Hopefully he'll be somewhat successful. If not, no big deal to me. Still my favorite wrestler ever.

On one level this can be nothing but entertaining.
On another level I hate that this is happening, because I prefer UFC to have at least the pretense of being a sport.
