Did a new episode come on last night or are they on a break until after Christmas? I didn't see an episode on my DVR.

This is my first exposure to AHS and so far I'm really enjoying the season. I agree that it's kind of fallen flat in recent weeks, but compared to other... horror-y... I guess, shows like The Walking Dead (which I still watch and enjoy somewhat) AHS is miles and miles better in terms of gripping characters and interesting story.
Whenever I get Netflix I'll have to give previous seasons a try, as I've heard great things about them; the first one, specifically.

I guess even my DVR has had enough of the show at this point. I suppose I'll just read the wikipedia entry for last night's show and save myself the 45 minutes.

Depending on your provider, if you have FX on-demand you can catch the latest three episodes, though they don't add the newest episode until the next week.

Tonight's episode went a long way to getting me back into this season. From a broad standpoint, this is a pretty historic episode as it strongly tied together two separate seasons of the show. I admit I am a huge fan of Lily Rabe and the Sister Mary Eunice character, so seeing her back certainly was great for me.
I hope Naomi Grossman (Pepper) gets some acting nominations for this episode. She totally becomes a microcephalic ('Pinhead'). When I first saw the actress in Asylum, I thought she really was a microcephalic as she really captured both their look and demeanor. Tonight's episode was truly her night to shine. She was so sympathetic and the show gave us terrible heels that played off her.
The Asylum scenes were really exciting for me as it helps create a shared universe between the seasons.

Episodes like the one tonight frustrate me because I wish the series could maintain this level of focus. My biggest problem with the series is that they swerve all over the place with the plot. Tonight, they focused on two stories and the show benefitted from it.

Okay. I think this season has just been all over the place. I definitely don't mean that in a good way. It seems like it keeps changing direction or adding new characters/storylines. It is frustrating because I really enjoyed the last episode. I'm not going to throw in the towel, but this season has been frustrating.

I've kept watching after my last post and it has improved. Orphans was a brilliant episode. It's annoying because it shows what this series is capable of, and yet too often it's been spinning it's wheels or flailing all over the place with no direction. The flashbacks going into the performers backgrounds and how they got into the Freak Show would have been a nice theme to run throughout the series. The scene with Elsa giving Pepper over to her sister was fantastic. Holy crap that's sad...
