Should be interesting to see the reaction to this if Charles Martinet is allowed to do the voices, hearing him doing a full movie worth of the Mario voice.

Very interested in them wanting Genndy for the film. Doubt he will, but he'd be the perfect choice.

You know, of all the Nintendo properties, a Mario movie is probably the least interesting idea to me, but then again the Mario universe has been bizarre for years.
Honestly, I don't know of anyone who plays a Mario game for the story, because the story is always the same and it's incredibly stupid. However, the game mechanics and the overall playing factor makes every game worth investing the time in, so a movie to me sounds like a bad idea.
I'd rather get a Legend of Zelda movie, or perhaps one for Metroid. Obviously, they'll be compared to movies that they vaguely resemble, but get the right people involved, and it would be okay. A Mario movie sounds like a direct to DVD aimed at the 3-5 year old audience.

does it say Mark Wahlberg is the voice of Mario? Robin Williams will never get to play Luigi, so it's all pointless.

I'd rather get a Legend of Zelda movie, or perhaps one for Metroid. You remember the Metroid project supposedly worked on by Uwe Boll? Yeah, I don't wanna see a Metroid movie if that would be how it went. EDIT: It was John Woo that wanted it, my bad. But, just cause a movie is discussed doesn't mean its ever gonna be made.

Wait, Sony intended to make a Super Mario movie? Sony, the developers of the PlayStation, Nintendo's competitor, wanted to make a movie about Nintendo's mascot? Unless the movie depicted him as a child-touching serial killer who kicks puppies in every scene because it sexually arouses him, I'm not buying it. So let's look deeper into it, shall we? First red flag: all we have to go with are e-mails whose authenticity is questionable at best and whose existence do not guarantee a film is actually even being considered. Second red flag: we have no reason to believe that Avi Arad, if it is indeed him who contacted Sony AND if these e-mails are genuine, even has the rights to a Nintendo movie. Third red flag: from Buzzfeed itself, "After publication, Arad denied to BuzzFeed News via email that the Super Mario deal had closed, saying his negotiations with Nintendo were 'just the beginning.'" Fourth red flag: Buzzfeed being the source in the first place. Robin Williams will never get to play Luigi, so it's all pointless. God, that was one of the greatest threads ever. The fact that he came back a few months later and made the exact same thread. Classic. Okay there's clearly a reference I'm missing here and whatever it is, it sounds too good to ignore.

The threads title was "I'm writing a CGI Mario film for Disney"...it was also made only a few months after the first one the only difference was in some of the casting choices. It was deleted for being too mean spirited towards the end.

Well, there's that fan theory that Super Mario Brothers 3 is actually a stage play. That said, I want to see "Super Mario Brothers 3 or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)"

I remember thanks to that thread going to another forum that guy posted on and watching them getting into a bit of back and forth with another fellow who wanted to make their own Mario movie.
