I searched and didn't see a topic on either, so I figured I'd start one. I don't watch Ferguson much, but I always liked him when I did and I know he has a pretty sizable internet following that love the guy...and he's probably the best pure interviewer in the late night world. I can't see James Corden living up to that, so I'll be slightly sad.
On The Colbert Report, I'm pretty damn heartbroken. I've been watching since the day it started in 2005, and I'd argue his character has been one of the best things going on TV since the show started. I'm not making this political at all, just really sad that its ending since no one else can mimic what he has been able to create. Not to say anything bad about Larry Wilmore, whom I like, but Colbert is basically my idol.
Anyone else watching either of these tonight/tomorrow night?

Plan on watching both. Forgot Ferguson was having his finale as well tomorrow night.
I've enjoyed Colbert during his entire run and always go to his books if I need something to improve my mood.

I honestly still can't fully accept The Colbert Report is going off the air. I'm checking it out tonight for sure. It's just so damn surreal.

Once I found out Kristen Bell was appearing on Craig's finale I knew I'd be able to watch it happily. It just wouldn't have been right otherwise.

I still don't think Colbert is going to make it on the Late Show. I know he has his audience and they'll likely follow him over there, but we'll see what happens.

I posted this on my Facebook last night might as well reuse it.
The Colbert Report speeds ever closer to its conclusion tomorrow night. I have been watching since day one. My viewership lapsed a bit when I started working a lot of nights. But I have been back to it. And I have to say, the run up to the end has been perfect. It isn't every day a variety type show actually offers closure to its fans. But they have done a wonderful job of giving us just one more of beloved skits and ending them with finality.
They have my gratitude for that, and for 9 years of making my life a little more joyous and laughter filled. Good luck to Mr. Colbert and his cast and crew as a bright new frontier opens. Thank you for the laughs and education.
Side note, Colbert and Stewart are basically the Sesame Street of politics and social concerns.

I can't stand Colbert and don't see him lasting too long on Late Night. He can't be his character over there and he can't do the political humor all the time either. I've seen him not being that character and trying to be funny doing other stuff (like Who's Line) and he's not very good and not very funny. I figure he'll probably have a short run, then go back to doing Colbert Report after a few years.

He has the comedic talent and improv skills to get it done, so I have full faith in him. His fan base (of which I'm included in) is absolutely insane for the guy, so they won't let him fail just on that accord.

At the same time, doing a completely different character may alienate them slightly.

Colbert's the whole reason why I became a political junkie years ago, so the Report will definitely be missed.

Larry Wilmore's awesome, so as surreal as it'll undoubtedly be to see Colbert in a different format, I'm actually looking forward to the change.

how is Jimmy Fallon currently doing with his late night show? I love the humor on that show, but does Fallon still face the same problems that Conan did with that audience?
Also, will CBS give Colbert more leeway than NBC gave Conan?

I'm a bit crushed as Colbert has been a staple show for me for the entirety of its run. I think Stephen will do well on the Late Show.

His SUPER PAC raised over $1 million and he is basically the reason multiple political candidates have any sort of fame on them. I think CBS understands allowing Jimmy Fallon to be himself has allowed for that show to be so successful, so they'll let Colbert be a bit looser than they would have 5 years ago or so.

Just watched the re-run from Tuesday's Colbert, where Kendrick LaMar f***ing killed it with his performance. I had only heard Swimming Pools and thought he was run-of-the-mill, but no sir.
I used to always watch Colbert but fell out of watching consistently. It's a great show, and he's one of the funniest people on the planet. I might actually watch the Late Show now, I've never liked the network late night talk show but Colbert could make it something I'd enjoy. He's a really good interviewer, which helps his cause tremendously, and I think he'll develop some really funny re-curring bits that give the show a distinct flavor, much like Conan O'Brien.

Also, will CBS give Colbert more leeway than NBC gave Conan? Fallon and Seth both put up better numbers than Leno and Conan did while together. They have done great, especially at the beginning.

Yeah, Fallon has been knocking it out of the park. The Tonight Show's been the most watchable it's been in years and I dare say better than when Conan was hosting.
You can't really use Colbert's Whose Line appearance against him as that was in what, 1999? That was early even for Whose Line and well before he'd developed his comedic characteristics for the Report or even the Daily Show. That'd be like judging Undertaker by what he did as Mean Mark Callous.
