There are a ton of great fan theories about movies out there that will blow your mind.
What's your favourite or do you have any of your own?
For me, it's the theory about the ending of the The Thing.
Without spoiling anything major, the theory goes that MacReady didn't actually have scotch in the bottle. It was gas and he simply wanted to see if Childs would react.
(If you've seen the film, you know why this would be significant and what it would mean.)

James Bond 007 is just a code name. An alias. Just like all the other MI6 identities like M, Q, etc. Skyfall ruined that theory for me!

Agent Deckard is a replicant. That's a very interesting theory.
In the train scene of The Manchurian Candidate, Janet Leigh is a Communist agent tryng to trigger brainwashing in Frank Sinatra, which explains the bizarre conversation. It's interesting to see this scene with that theory in mind.
Much of The King of Comedy are things happening in Robert De Niro's imagination/fantasies. I came to this conclusion while watching and feel this is the correct interpretation.
As a teen, I remember theorizing with my friends that Luke Skywalker could have set himself down the path toward the Dark Side in Return of the Jedi when he snaps after the Emperor brings up Leia. I must say I no longer think this way.

Zion is not in the real world. It's just another level of the matrix, like a backup system. That's why Neo is able to use his powers against the sentinels. Morpheus and crew think they've escaped and are free from the machines, but they're still in a dream state.

In "A League Of Their Own," I think Dottie Hinson dropped the ball on purpose to let Kit have her moment

The Daniel Craig 007 films are prequels to the earlier Bond films.
Clint Eastwood's characters in the Dollars trilogy, High Plains Drifter, Pale Rider, and Unforgiven are all the same guy at different stages in his life, and in non-linear order. In some of the films, he might even be dead already - a wandering spirit of vengeance.
HAL 9000 wasn't malfunctioning. He knew the mission was too important to allow it to be jeopardized by human error, so he attempted to eliminate that possibility by eliminating the humans.

I'd actually add Harry Callahan to that list, too The epilogue to Unforgiven says that some people believe that [Eastwood's character] left for San Francisco at the end of the events of the film.

since all my favorites have already been taken, i'll go with E.T. being part of the Star Wars universe, and being a jedi.

The Joker in "The Dark Knight" is an Iraq War veteran.
Alfred is Bruce Wayne's biological father.
Tyler Durden and the narrator from "Fight Club" are grown-up versions of Calvin and Hobbes.

Sean Connery's character in The Rock is actually James Bond.
Blade Runner, Aliens/Prometheus, Buffyverse/Firefly all exist in the same universe. Also, Deckard is a replicant implanted with Gaff's memories.
All of Tarantino's films take place in an alternate timeline created by the events of Inglorious Basterds. Also, Kill Bill is actually Fox Force Five: The Movie, starring Mia Wallace.

These are interesting to read about. I saw one theory that said "Aladdin" was set 10,000 years in the future. A post apocalyptic future with genetically engineered parrots who can comprehend human speech and flying carpets. Also how the Genie does impressions of dead celebrities like Graucho Marx and Jack Nicholson.

Judge Doom's true form can be seen on a poster in RK Maroon's office. (Who Framed Roger Rabbit)
Doc Brown has to kill alternate Marty (the one raised by the cool version of George and Lorraine McFly) so the original Marty (the raised by nerd George and depressed Lorraine) can slot into their timeline. (Back To The Future)

The theory that the Schumacher Batman films exist within the the Burton films. As in the Schumacher movies are exaggerated, hollywood adaptations of the real life events that occurred in the Burton films. Which explains why they are so cheesy and over the top.

So what, everyone knows Bruce Wayne is him, and Alfred and Gordon play themselves?
