How can they not allow the merchandise if they them selves are selling it on their website?

Scared to death, scared to look, WWE's shook Cause ain't no such thing as half-way crooks.

In all seriousness, if true, f*** em'. I've never been one to support stuff like #OccupyRaw but I hope every Raw crowd chants CM Punk now.

It's blatently a ploy to make up for failing merch sales
"you can't wear that here" "can you provide me another tshirt then" "you can purchase one from our shopzone stand over there" "no, it only seems to be selling Roman Reigns shirts, he sucks" "that's it. SECURITY! evict this man" "ok ok, I'll buy the stupid t-shirt"

They will have to publicly announce this surely? What if, for example, someone had bought a CM Punk shirt from WWE.com a week ago and wears it to an event? The ONLY way this would even come close to working is if WWE had a steady supply of free t-shirts of all shapes and sizes on hand to give away to anyone wearing Punk merch, and that would only work for one show until the word got out.
They either have to acknowledge the "No Punk" rule, defeating the purpose of their whitewashing, or just f***ing sack up and deal with seeing them.
Controlling what people carry in is one thing, what people wear in is another thing entirely.

Yeah they have to do some announcement of some kind about this. Chucking people out because they didn't bring spare clothes to a WWE event is insane and could get them some major backlash.

They've had the same policy for others before (Benoit being the biggest example) without ever making any sort of announcement. Here's the thing though about controlling things: It's their show. It's their world-televised events done as a corporate entity to make money. They get to pick and choose what's allowed. It sucks and it's stupid beyond all belief, but it is what it is.

and thus the whitewashing begins in force... Hey remember when Bob Holly won the WWE title from John Cena in Chicago and left the WWE?

That's apples and oranges. Chris Benoit murdered his whole family, anyone with a Benoit sign or t-shirt was doing it to troll.

Maybe if they put as much effort into their shows as they do trying to get people to forget about CM Punk, people wouldn't feel compelled to chant for him in the first place.
And don't get me wrong, they 100% have the right to do this. They're still pussies for doing it.

There's a world of difference between "murderer of entire family" and "guy who walked out on the company to go to UFC".

I like how everyone acts as if shirts can't be easily turned inside out, and patrons need free shirts.

They weren't selling Benoit stuff online last week though... Whereas the Benoit thing could easily have been someone trolling I could easily see an overworked single mother with 3 kids wondering why little timmy, jimmy and shonesha aren't allowed in the building because they're wearing shirts that she saved up to buy them last week from the WWE.com.

They're going to have fun enforcing this, especially considering how damn ubiquitous the original "Best in the World" t-shirt has gotten by now.
