Evidently feeling the Christmas spirit, as they've decided to give us a healthy dosage of potatoes!
(There's a fair amount of blood and probably swearing in this BTW. And some horrific bumps.)

If you go to the IWA YouTube page you can see the other 17 matches they uploaded as the best 18 matches in IWA: Mid-South History.
For those curious Punk/Hero TLC got number one.

That match was more of a shootfight than an actual wrestling match. Necro is definitely paying the price for all those brutal matches the past decade.

This was the match that became a shoot because Joe didn't think Necro was legit tough, so Necro went in pissed only to piss Joe off right? I may have the story completely wrong but I remember afterwards both said they had a new respect for each other and Joe admitted Necro surprised him.

Do you recall the source of the story? I know Masada mentioned something about it. I don't even know if the story has legs. I just remember chatter being that Necro was pissed that Joe thought he wasn't tough and JOe got pissed that Necro took liberties

There was a storyline hyped at the time that Joe was pissed Necro roughed up some ROH students on a CHIKARA show before the match took place. Besides just being a "dream match," that was the reason IWA gave for why the match would be taking place.

Who the f*** was that a 'dream match' for? 'I want to see the world's best death match wrestler versus the world's best athletic Samoan!'

I guess it was more of a "what would happen if these two guys fought" spectacle rather than a dream match.

It was a dream match at the time. Necro Butcher was the Man in IWA Mid South and had the reputation of being one of the toughest hardhitters in wrestling at the time. Samoa Joe was his counterpart in ROH and him vs Necro was a match people wanted to see happen.

I was only questioning it because I didn't see the parallels, my phrasing was out of bafflement - because to me it just seems like they're as much of a dream match as Gyspy Joe vs. New Jack. 'They're tough guy garbage wrestlers from different generations!' I'm not saying people didn't think it was a dream match, just that I am baffled at it being so.

That exploder suplex to the floor is one the craziest things I've ever seen in wrestling. I've watched this match about a million times.

Do you recall the source of the story? It was mentioned by someone that Joe was pissed that Necro seriously hurt this one rookie ( the name escapes me right now) at Chikara's Tag World Grand Prix and he started shooting.
