Just crank out Spider-Man movies, and Batman and Superman while you're at it. I hate f***ing comics and comic books, I know all their origin stories even still. I don't want a morality play, I wanna see bad guys punched in the face. That's all you need. I don't understand this post.

How about black Spider-Man? Don't even pretend it's a different guy either, just keep the series going as it is, and have Spider-Man be played by a black guy all of a sudden.

Just cast both of them, throw one of them in the Scarlet Spider get-up, and movie - ize the Clone Saga without mentioning the fact that they're different people. That storyline was such a clusterf**k by the end anyway that no one would notice.

Just my opinion but Garfield was the right guy at the wrong time. Poor guy. But was he the right gay guy, the right guy at the wrong place time, at the right time at the wrong place, brother?

It's really bizarre to think that barely six months ago, Sony was talking about putting out 1 Spidey related movie a year. Cut to a few months later, and Amazing 2 underperforms (even though it still made a shitload of money, it didn't do the billion dollars they thought it would. Don't know why they thought it would. I liked it, but it was immensely flawed, let alone the fifth movie in a franchise that's had many mis-steps) and here we are with them in full panic mode.
It's a funny ol world.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 sucked (love the first one), but it was still better than any of the Raimi movies.

And what makes it even worse for them, they had to sell the merchandise rights to Disney. So all the merchandise the movie sold, didn't mean shit to Sony.

Mmm, problem with TASM2 is that it simply underperformed by a large margin. On its own terms, you could look at it and see it made pretty major money, turned a profit at the cinema and so the DVD/Bluray home market is going to be all gravy and so on.
Which is true. But when the studio's said it's going to go around a certain mark, all the investors and shareholders and budget arrangements for your other productions are arranged around that mark, and you drop about three-quarters under that, it's serious. It's like if someone owes you a hundred bucks and they give you seventy-five instead and say that's it. Hey, seventy-five bucks!...I wanted a hundred.
And every cape-and-cowl studio at the moment wants their Avengers money and they want it yesterday. So Sony's in a big scramble due to this with Spidey, DC is going all-on on Batman v Superman while Fox commits to more X-Men. The market is going to be insanely crowded within three or four years.
As for this - I could see Tobey back if they wanted to do an alternate timelines meeting kinda deal. But if it was a straight replacement, it's really poor handling of Garfield, who's been the best strength the two flicks have had so far. Work to give him a much better script, not show him the door.

I recently watched ASM 2 and I could tell that were pretty confident this franchise was going to be massive. Unfortunately, they overlooked the fact that the movie was mediocre at best, with shitty villains(blue man group member, gingivitis goblin and mechwarrior?), drastic tonal changes throughout the movie, unnecessary Richard Parker stuff, and just the worst ending.
And about this newz? I don't think it really matters because I've realized all the Spider-Man movies are the pretty much the same.
1)Will they, won't they romance 2)Villain done wrongly, resorts to crime after accident, starts talking to himself for some reason(seriously every movie!) 3)People behind police tape in situations were they should be evacuated/on scene news reporting 4)Ra ra, yay, for the people moment/don't mess with New York 5)Wacky hijinks! 6)Peter Parker crying 7)I don't want to be Spider-Man anymore 8)Nah, changed my mind
The list goes on. Some of the movies handle the narrative then others. I think (ASM 1 had the right balance despite it's flaws). Maybe it's just me but the Spider-Man movie franchise has lost a lot of luster and even if they do something crazy it probably won't be enough to go see it theatres(unless it's in a Marvel movie)

I just hope that whatever studio makes the next Spidermovie doesn't try to "bro" Spider-Man up in an attempt to appeal to male audiences more. I think I'm one of the few that likes the approach the Raimi and the Amazing films used.
I ccould tell that was a factor on their minds when they cast Garfield, and while he did a great job, that's about as cocky as I want my Peter. He doesn't need to stay in high school all the time, but I want him to cry, I want him to feel things and I want him to stress.

I don't get the "Garfield is too good-looking" deal. He's an alright looking guy but nothing special. If anything he fits the part better, I bought him having a cute girlfriend where I didn't with Toby. Plus Garfield is a good actor. Ya ASM 2 was disappointing but that isn't on Garfield.

Superior Foes of Spiderman movie is the only marvel film I really want to see happen. Not this Sinister Six BS.

20 years since Tobey played Spidey?
Sony math sounds fun.

what with all the Garfield hate? i thought he was a great spidey Some people think he's too cool, confident, and good-looking. Personally, I like Garfield as Spider-Man, but I think he has the stench of being part of a bad reboot series. He and Emma Stone had great chemistry (they're a real couple) and it's a shame those films (especially the second one) weren't better. Sadly, Andrew Garfield (and Emma Stone, for that matter) got a rare deal. Garfield was easily the best Spider-Man, and together they were easily the best couple. Unfortunately, since the movies sucked, it brings Garfield's stock down. Someone else nailed it when they compared him to Pierce Brosnan; great James Bond bogged down by shitty Bond movies.

My main issue with the last Spider-Man films was that they still focused on the romance aspect too much. Well honestly, that's a lie, another issue I had was they didn't really show just how smart Peter is. I've always said if you took the writing of Raimi's version and put it in this one? You'd have Andrew as the perfect Peter/Spider-Man as a whole.
I don't blame the film underperforming on Andrew. If anything the blame should be placed on the writing team and the director. Once again they attempted to cram in too many villains, not enough Spider-Man, and too much focus on Gwen and Parker romance drama.
Just have a storyline with Parker juggling being a super-hero/high school student, bring in villains fans want to see(Lizard was a great start, they could've did Vermin, Kraven, or even Scorpion for the sequel), and for the third film have a much more darker/serious depiction of the symbiote and Venom.
