Just announced ahead of the house show in Chicago tonight - Extreme Rules will be at the Allstate Arena on April 26th. So the recent "PPV a year" trend for Chicago continues...

I really wonder if they'll have Reigns with the belt going in this night.

Yeah, like, I remember hearing in the territory days of popping a town, and while Chicago has been a good WWE town, I think after the Punk title win, they made Chicago a complete hotbed for when WWE comes to town. I'm actually wondering if Punk leaving and the issues with that might hurt the town.

They didn't seem to have too many problems when they ran it last fall, well after it was clear to anyone in the know he wouldn't be there.

Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the US. It doesn't surprise me at all that they get a PPV every year. It's been a great wrestling town even before CM Punk broke into the WWE.

I await to see what happens now that WWE has instituted its "No CM Punk Merch" policy.

Well, they bring PPV's to the same cities a lot now.
Boston has had a PPV every year since 2011. LA has had SummerSlam every year since 2009 Aside from 2011, St Louis has had a PPV every year since 2010 The NYC area has had five ppv's since 2011.
So yeah, they usually bring PPV shows to Chicago, NYC area, LA, Boston, Houston, Miami, and St Louis every year.

every god damn year! MSG hasn't had a ppv in 3! They run The Barclay Center for that market now, for some reason they don't ever do TV or PPV at MSG anymore. Something to do with it costing too much to rent out, or probably Kevin Dunn thinks the arena doesn't look good on TV or something.

Yeah the metro area gets its fair share of showa, but MSG just feels special. They always do something special.

I'm sure they'd give up their yearly pay-per view to just once have the Royal Rumble. Chicago has never held that event.

they don't have any other venues there? Allstate is probably cheaper and easier to get to from the airport. Plus they were loyal to WWE while United was a WCW arena.

Moline has Smackdown in that time period as well. Wonder if Peoria/Bloomington is going to get something.

Booooooorrrrriiiiiiinnnnng. I wish Chicago would get something we've never had, the Royal Rumble, or since I've never seen one live, a ppv with the Elimination Chamber or Hell in a Cell.
