Now that there's been a little bit of time to sink in, the time has come to ask which prequel series will be remembered the least fondly, The Hobbit or the Star Wars prequels.
For comparison, both: -Relied heavily on green screen compared to prior movie practical effects -Were helmed by onetime visionary who seemed to have lost much passion for the craft -Had winky asides to previous films (Thank you... CHEWBACCA vs. It's my son, Gimli) -Made pointy eared fan favorite into whirling dervish of death -Featured a main protagonist being tempted by the dark side -Christopher Lee
Problems with Star Wars: -Terrible explanation retcons: midichlorians. -Acting/Dialogue -Jar Jar -NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! -Possibly racist characters
Problems with The Hobbit: -Unmemorable characters (Starfish dwarf, most of the dwarves) -Stretched material -Alfrid -Unresolved story points -Woefully incompetent antagonists

Pros of The Hobbit
- Smaug - Bard - Bard vs Smaug - Martin Freeman as Bilbo - Riddles in the Dark - The fight at Dol Guldor in Five Armies
Pros of Star Wars Prequels
- Darth Maul - Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs Darth Maul - Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan - Obi-Wan being even more badass than we thought was possible - Obi-Wan vs Anakin - The worlds were beautiful - The score - Order 66 was well done
The Hobbit movies are just a product of bigtimer Hollywood.
The Star Wars movies are a product of Lucas not even being close to the same person that spawned the originals getting hung up on a bunch of stupid bullshit like cgi and busy backgrounds.

Star Wars. Those movies were George's unchecked ego put on-screen.
Peter Jackson a good job with the Hobbit movies. Yes, they were bloated, but let us not overlook that they were originally supposed to be two movies. The third was supposed to be more of a straight up prequel to the War of the Ring set during the 60 years between the end of The Hobbit and the start of Lord of the Rings.
If anything, Jackson remained too faithful to the source material. In the book the dwarves are unmemorable and poorly fleshed-out, for example. In the film at least Balin, Kili, and Bofur had some character to them.
Revenge of the sith was good and don't care what anyone says about it. Clones can F the F right off Episode 1 wasn't that bad except for Jar Jar and little Anny
Treat stressful situations like a puupy would. If you can't hump it or chew on it, than lift your leg to it and walk away
Star Wars Prequel hate tends to get really over-exaggerated, imo. I mean sure, there's things about them that should've been done differently (no need for the politics, Episode II having some really boring scenes), but none of the Prequels are the horrifying experience that people make them out to be.

Star Wars by a country mile. The worst thing I can say about the Hobbit films was that they tried to do to much at once, but even then I still love all three (well the second 2 anyway, first one is just OK).

Certainly not, but when you put them next to three of the most beloved movies of all time the massive drop in quality is bound to provoke stronger reactions than would have happened if the original trilogy didn't exist.

Star Wars ranged from lousy to not bad but The Hobbit was one of the rare films where I just felt like my time was being completely wasted watching them. So I voted Hobbit.

Yeah, if we bag on dwarves for being unmemorable in the movie... if I recall a couple of them might only have 1 or 2 lines total in the book. Thorin and Balin are about the one two dwarves that say anything meaningful. Some of the character development in the original book is limited to the color of their hood and what instrument they played.
The Hobbit was Peter Jackson's LOTR fanfiction but they were mostly enjoyable if not bloated. Star Wars prequels are worse alone by the existence of Episode II.
Though Episode III is my favorite movie out of the two prequel trilogies being compared.

I've been pretty meh on the Hobbit, but at least they're all watchable. It'll be a cold day in hell before I allow myself to endure the line "Now this is pod racing!" one more time.
EDIT: Plus, the Hobbit films made this jewel possible.
For all the woes that the Hobbit series had, the acting was never really an issue in them. Whereas in the Star Wars movies everyone was pretty much bringing their cheapest game to the party. Even actors and actresses that normally were good, or tolerable at least, outside of them were dragged down to a cringe worthy bad performance under Lucas.
That alone will always make the Star Wars prequels beneath the Hobbit movies.
