The Montreal Expos tragically never got to redeem themselves against the memory of Rick Monday.

Our old IHL team. Sure we have the Wranglers now in the ECHL, but it's not the same. You don't even have the Wranglers anymore. I'm gonna mention the Houston Aeros.

Well, they took a year off this season to find a new arena after the owners of the Orleans Casino booted them, but have they made any efforts or announcements about finding a new place to play?

The Hartford Whalers. No more once or twice in a lifetime wins over the Canucks that put common, everyday, dime a dozen breakfasts with your girlfriend to shame. Who is Banky gonna yell homophobic slurs at now? I remember looking up my hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts up on Wikipedia years back and coming across an article on a National League franchise called The Worcester Worcesters (also known as the "Brown Stockings" and the "Ruby Legs") that existed from 1880-1882. Since they folded 101 years before I was born, I miss them on general principle just because I like the idea of my hometown having a Major League Baseball team. Plus their team colors were pink and black. So they had the same colors as "The Hitman"! "Mighty Ducks of Anaheim", because I always liked that name, and their Disney image. I remember talking hockey with my friend Josh and he was talking about catching an old Mighty Ducks game on NHL Network (or some sort of on demand service or something) and that team has been just "The Anaheim Ducks" for so long that I forgot about the original Disney tie-in. So I actually thought that Josh had somehow confused fiction with reality and thought the Mighty Ducks team from the movie was real.

Loved going to these games as a kid. It sucked to see them go and even a Simpsons episode about it didn't ease the pain.

The Atlanta Thrashers for the bizarre reason they were the least missed, least covered, least identifiable team, least discussed team from sports fans to sports media ever. They have been gone for 4 seasons now and I keep forgetting they were in the league for 12 seasons. They were known as the team that had the tackiest baby powder blue jersey's we will never see again unless Las Vegas gets a team since (I picture Las Vegas to have powder blue jersey). They had some of the most ugliest sets of jersey's when they were struggling to have a identity for themselves outside of yeah we have Kovalchuk and bunch of players you're surprised who haven't retired yet. Hell it's surprising that Hossa played some of his best years in Atlanta and Heatley had his start in Atlanta.
Hell their end was fitting because they were the one struggling non traditional hockey market where sports fans or media ever discussed relocation rumours or where they should be relocated or have Bettman or Daly hold press conferences saying they weren't going anywhere or have Bettman fight really hard to prevent relocation like he has done with Phoenix, Florida, and Nashville. Like just one random day a report was like Atlanta will moved within few weeks, then they were sold and moved to Winnipeg just like that! There was no rumours before or anything it was just surreal.
The oddest part of The Atlanta Thrashers legacy is that more then half of the players of the Winnipeg Jets have played for, been drafted by, or been acquired by Atlanta. The core of the team is the core of the Atlanta Thrashers in their final seasons. If this team was still in Atlanta, people would be complaining they are one of the biggest joke franchises in the league with one of the longest rebuilds and they should obviously set away with most of their players they currently have because obviously it isn't working. But now Winnipeg is actually doing good this season with the current Atlanta core.

I was really starting to get into hockey and then the team up and left. It was nice having a local hockey team to cheer for. It definitely made the sport more interesting. My desire to watch hockey left along with the team.

There was a team in the Federal Hockey League that, when they were created, played their home games about 20 minutes from where I live. Even though it was a small league, it was awesome to go and watch some fun hockey.
The team moved to Pennsylvania after one season. Ugh.

And to think, the Thrashers weren't even Atlanta's first NHL team. I had to look up their logo since I've never seen it:
