One of a million idiots spouting ignorance on twitter. No doubt she's a fool and/or trying to create controversy to further propel her career but my point wasn't whether or not she's a good person. heck, MOST people in the entertainment industry probably aren't good people or at the very least have some serious emotional problems, it was just that trying to lambaste someone for assuming a persona while performing is kind of silly, especially in the hip-hop world. While creating a persona in hip-hop is all well and good, Iggy has a track that opens with her bragging about being a slave master. As a white Australian attempting a genre made by black Americans, there's some things you just don't do. Her obliviousness to it being wrong when she's called out about this is a great microcosm of why people hate her and rightfully so. She's also a bottom five worst live act I've ever seen when she played CMJ in 2011, and by all accounts hasn't improved slightly since. She's a purely studio creation, which would be fine if she even slightly indicated she had a self-awareness about it. Again, I have no doubt people have all kinds of reasons to hate her, but just taking on a fake persona to sell records by itself shouldn't be one of them. Like you said, its all too common in hiphop. I mean, of course she's got no self-awareness about stuff, she's what...24? and in the entertainment industry. All she and the people handling her care about is what can they do to get the most attention, make the most money and get the most people talking about her. On top of that, I'm not really a fan and don't get why people are so obsessed with loving or hating her. She's...well, she's just not that interesting.

Radio stations that don't play hip hop have no problem playing Iggy songs. That annoys me more than anything. I felt the same when Eminem got that treatment but at least he was known as a great rapper.

Ahhh, so it's the same thing as when Joss Stone went to America and started putting on this godawful false generic american drawl all of a sudden. She grew out of it.

Not saying that Iggy Azalea is or isn't a good person, but I don't understand how Twitter can possibly be used to judge someone's character. I don't see how it's any different than picking up cues based on other avenues through which a person speaks or acts. Not that I know anything about her. I don't follow her and I don't care about her. I think if people don't like her, they should just stop talking about her, because any kind of press for a celebrity (good or bad) ultimately benefits them if it's anything other than a cataclysmic scandal.

A person should know by age 8 that that's above and beyond a horrible thing, especially when performing a black-created medium.

It's because they're terrible and doing terrible things. Granted, Iggy hasn't decapitated anyone or killed 1,300 people in a day just yet, but she's gone above and beyond to do some truly terrible, terrible things. Like, this isn't Emine beefing with his mom or Kanye dissing Bush. This isn't even Dave Mustaine levels of at least entertaining pure idiocy. It's super, super unsettling. I also, no offense, take issue with saying "of course she isn't self-aware, she's 24." Hip-hop's a youth culture. From Rakim and Nas to Earl and Lil B, the masterpieces are made by youngsters, including the 4 I just mentioned who made theirs before they even turned 18. If you're 24 and in hip-hop, motherf***er you're middle aged and should absolutely know better.

I don't know if that's necessarily a race thing as much as it's a novelty of a song so catchy even non-rap fans like it thing. Nelly, Lyrics Born, Outkast and Cee-Lo all got the same treatment. What's more overtly racist is Wal-Mart refusing to stock Ghostface Killah and Killer Mike CDs based on their names, then turning around and having no issue carrying The Killers

To even mention what some silly pop star says in the same sentence as ISIS is pretty blatantly offensive. I know you love hip-hop and are a part of the industry, but what you're saying really makes me think you're kind of seeing things from inside the bubble of that industry because I can't honestly believe you'd try to invoke a terrorist organization to draw a parallel to a pop star. That's...that's crazy talk man. I know you're a sensible guy, so come on. More to the point. What a stupid pop stars say means, in the grand scheme of things, nothing. NOTHING. Its all bread and circuses man and people treat it like it actually means something. The way people act like pop stars actually matter is so much more upsetting than anything this girl is saying to get attention.

I think that's the parents job to work that out. If you have kids and don't think they should be listening to this girl, watching this or that movie, etc etc - then yeah - absolutely, parent your children. Beyond that why would you take what a pop star says seriously? They're just clowns. That seems like a terrible, terrible idea.

Because when your in the public spotlight like Iggy and so many others, you have a large amount of influence over normal people like you and I. Add in that your a musical artist who can then onto of being a public figure can get their messages across in their music. It's not so much people take it serious, but more of whom these messages come from. I could be saying the same shit as any of these famous people and nobody would take it seriously because I'm not famous.

The fact that we put these clowns up on a pedestal and treat them like they matter - that's much more disconcerting to me. To be honest, its f***ing insane that we put musicians, actors, etc in the spotlight like we do. And I don't mean that metaphorically. It is literal insanity to do that, yet people still do it. The fact that we willingly let them influence is pretty disgusting. When I see people reading tabloids or gossiping about celebs like they're their friends, it grosses me out big time. If you're entertained by that, I guess they're doing their job, but to take it seriously makes ZERO sense to me.
