Does your job allow you to listen to music while you work? Mine does, but sadly they still dont have wi-fi, so i have to rely on my trusty mp3 player.

It's been discussed but there are too many people in and out of the office for it to really work. I can't concentrate with music on so I don't mind. They usually manage to fill the silence with inane gossip anyway.

Yep. I recently discovered that Sirius XM isn't blocked on the computers, so I stream that. I usually listen to the music channels since they're commercial-free, but every so often I'll listen to a talk channel.
I'll either listen to that or my iPod. Whatever I'm in the mood for.

I'm a student. I almost feel like its mandatory that I have music on while I'm working on homework or studying.

I work nighttime service as an electrician. So I spend nights fixing lights and shit in finished office-spaces a lot of the time. If I'm by myself I always have my iPod. If I'm just with an apprentice I may put my iPod on my boombox and torture him/her, because apprentices are worthless, good for nothing and deserve it. But if I'm in a group of three or more I won't bother. I listen to pretty abbrasive music and I'm tired of hearing people complain about it. "If it ain't Boston it ain't gewd". And then some other guy wants his radio on and you get into the competing radio game, which is just f***ing annoying.

we're not suppose to. the official reasoning is to prevent any kind of distraction from our work. that being said my supervisor is asleep most of the night, so when he does the headphones come out.

There is one radio for the four people in my department. I usually put it on classic rock but the guy next to me likes to change it to hip hop as soon as I walk away from the desk.

I tune into a news/talk radio station while at work, but sometimes I'll tune to a music channel. Usually 70's prog or classical music.
I have a second part-time job where I can have my MP3 player and earbuds while working. I usually wear one so that I can hear if anything is happening around me. The job also involves me driving (about a 2-hour round trip, not counting time working), so I get to plug my MP3 player into the car and listen on the road.
