One of the reasons I heard they was short on time and didn't want to delay the movie

I'm pretty sure this was known before the first DVD/Blu-ray came out.

I still don't understand why they would name the whole version after a not exactly extremely popular character who only appears in a couple of scenes.
It's like releasing a new version of Star Trek: Generations with previously cut out footage, but instead it being a "Director's cut", or "Extended", or "Enterprise version", they call it "Chekov cut".

Can't say I'm interested. I found the future scenes very boring to be honest.

why was it cut in the first place? Maybe it didn't make Wolverine look strong?

Do people actually care about Rogue in these movies? I like Anna Paquin but I hated her as Rogue. The character was just so annoying and unlikable.

Love the film and own the blu-ray but I've no desire to see Rogue's scenes.

I don't really care to see these scenes. I'm not going to buy this movie again for them.

Yeah, I'm going to have to rewatch the first two movies again because I haven't seen them since their original release. Maybe my opinion will be different this time around. Thankfully I picked them up recently on Blu ray. Holy crap, I was only 12 when the first one came out. I definitely need to watch them again.

Wait, they're going to reduce the role of Kitty Ex Machina?
I think that's illegal.

What about Kelsey Grammar's Beast? Any extended scenes with him?

I'm guessing someone at Fox was going thru a list of movie terms, saw "rough cut", then thought "rogue" instead, and thus this is why. (Also, it was something of a story to those who cared that they got Anna Paquin back for a few scenes and then cut all of it - save a brief cameo at a certain part of the movie - from the theatrical release.)

Originally there were promotional materials with Rogue prominently featured. She was clearly originally going to have a bigger role. The news that Rogue's scenes were edited out of the movie broke a few months before the film was released. Some fans were upset by this. Even before the first Blu-ray/DVD were released the news already broke that next year (2015) Fox was going to release 'the Rogue Cut' with her scenes added back. They were already using the term 'Rogue Cut' before the theatrical version was released to Blu-ray/DVD.

I'd totally buy a Chekov cut Chekov cut sounds like a version of Chekov's gun where, instead of a gun being introduced in Act One and fired in Act Three, a samurai got slashed with a sword in the beginning of an anime and totally f***ing explodes right before the end.
