A couple more: We have had plenty of fundamental debate about Sgt Elias vs SSG Barnes since I've been in. You all love Elias and you still want to kick ass. But Barnes taught the hard way. You want to truely survive combat, you have to be as hard as Barnes. You can make it out doing It Elias's way but to truely get everything from it, you must accept, embrace and use the dark part down deep inside. The worst part about that is once you do you can't go back and when you are no longer at war, that change in you cannot be reconciled in the boundary of life back in the world. So if Barnes is a heel, he is Raven, Bray Wyatt, Jake Roberts, Terry Funk and Cactus Jack

So if Barnes is a heel, he is Raven, Bray Wyatt, Jake Roberts, Terry Funk and Cactus Jack I looked at Platoon and Wall Street as having basically the same moral dilemma. Charlie Sheen has two examples to follow. In Wall Street, the examples work more like father figures, with his actual father (Martin Sheen) playing his character's father. In Platoon, DaFoe and Berenger aren't necessarily 'father figures' to the same extent, but they're both examples of leaders. I took both stories to be about a young man who is just starting out in the adult world, learning what is the morally right way by seeing the two different examples. In these films, I see Martin Sheen and Willem DaFoe as the babyfaces and Michael Douglas and Tom Berenger as the heels.

But he is also a mentor to the young and that is a moral imperative for all of us that reach a certain age. Gecko is ruthless bastard but Buddy sees more there. Another piece of the tale is how Buddy wants to but affect the good parts of Gecko enough to get him straight.
