While going on a random video watch on Youtube, I found this intro:
I have never heard of this cartoon until now. Going by the Wiki article, it was made by the same guy who did Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid and Pinky & The Brain. This strangely never made its way here to German waters, however, otherwise I am sure I would have encountered it sometime.
I love the humor on the other mentioned Ruegger-made WB cartoons, so I want to ask the FANs: If I like those other cartoons, is there a good chance I will like Histeria as well? Or is it the black sheep of the WB cartoon canon and way below those others?
The intro sounds good, but already I find that big fat baby very creepy looking.

I liked Histeria. I remembered the show was presented as a sketch show with a historical figure as often as the guest host, but they weren't in every segment.

Yeah, the show was like an animated SNL with a historical "guest" and the episodes itself built on some sort of theme in history. It was a great show. Had the perfect amount of humor while you actually learned some things. I remember it being quite popular among my high school class. I wish it had more episodes.

Around this time, you had Histeria, a show that intentionally wanted to be edutainment without being completely obvious (such as how Big Ugly Baby wanted Gandhi's "diaper" and the skit focusing more on this concept with Gandhi mentioning his accomplishments in about 8 seconds), and then there was Time Squad, which featured historical figures but did everything possible to not be educational.

I liked it but I hear that it was too blame for basically killing Kids WB or something. I don't know I just curse Jamie Kellner's name in my sleep everynight anyway.

I remember it being on here and just being baffled by it. Sure it was a lot of fun but the episodes i always caught seemed to be all about American history and as a kid it just was interested

It debuted right after other WB shows like Pinky & the Brain and Animaniacs, and as a kid I always rolled my eyes at it because I saw it as a step down from them. It was pretty harmless in retrospect.

One of the more underrated shows of its time.

I used to love this show when I was a kid. My brother and me would always watch it in the morning before going to school.

Fav line from that show: "Why does that child have Napoleon in his pants?"
It didnt really make sense in context either, believe me. Still a great show.

It was a pretty good show, though it never caught on like the other Ruegger cartoons for some reason.
It wasn't as good as Pinky And The Brain or Animaniacs, but it was way better than Pinky, Elmyra, And The Brain. I still want to know who thought it was a good idea to greenlight that abomination.

I loved Histeria. It was one of (and still is) a favorite of mine growing up. I've always loved history and so this show hooked me from the start. Also, Big Fat Baby is the shit(See, it's funny because the baby would always crap...).

I could never really get into Histeria they way I did with Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Freakazoid.

Yay for sure. We need more educational cartoons today, not more sponges acting like morons.
