Source: angrywrestlingguy.com/tag/the-rock-was-gassed/I remember watching that match and being shocked at how gassed Rock was during it, and how he relied so heavily on CM Punk to carry him in the match. The above site has a great breakdown and proof the Rock was gassed out during the match. Question is, why was the Rock so gassed out? He keeps himself in good shape all the time for his Hollywood movie roles, and had muscle memory being a wrestler for so long. So why was he so gassed during that match? It took away from my enjoyment of the match because Rock could not hang with CM Punk. Opinions?

There's a difference between Hollywood muscle and wrestling muscle. Hollywood muscle's just there to look good, he doesn't need any cardio for it or anything.
Also, I'm honestly kind of inclined to give the Elimination Chamber match the most credit of Rock's solo comeback matches. I mean, none of the four are any good, like, at all, but he doesn't look as bad off as he did at the Rumble or at the two Manias.

I'm not really sure why we have a breakdown for Rock being gassed in that match. It was way too obvious and as stated, "Hollywood Muscle" is different than "Wrestling Muscle" and always has been. There's a reason why only some guys can an an ironman match.

As Stone Cold has said on his podcast, wrestling is like no other sport or workout you can condition yourself for. The only way to be in proper ring shape is to consistently be in the ring.

There's a reason pro atletes don't tend to look like bodybuilders. It's pretty damn hard to compete like that, and requires a completely different type of training. Wrestling training is far closer to pro-athletes than body-builders.
