Now that both shows are long over I feel we can finally settle this.

You can make an argument that the BBC version is the best TV program ever.
It's not even close.

Just how is the US version winning this?
I know we have mostly Americans on this site, but even you lot should see reason on this.

Depends on senses of humour, I suppose. Americans probably won't find the very, very British Office as funny as Brits

The UK office felt realistic and relatable. I've known bosses like David Brent which is why the show is so funny.
The US version feels like just another comedy that ran for too long.

The British version has Ricky Gervais, so even as bad as the US version got, it still has that going for it.

I respect all your opinions that the US version was better. But I guess that means you guys weren't watching seasons 5-10.
The Office UK was the better quality show to me, but I will conceit that the US office was funnier during those first 4 seasons.

The British version never was as bad as the American version was from seasons six through nine, but it also was never even close to being as good as the American version was from seasons two through four.
I would put those three seasons of 'The Office' up against any televised comedy ever in terms of being the best of all-time.

I liked the US Office better. Well, I like season 1 to 3 the most and then 4 to 5 was okay. After season 5, the show went to shit until season 9 when it started to be okay again, but it was not great. As a whole series the UK version is better because it never jumped the shark. If I compare the first two seasons of each version, I give the vote to the US version.

David Brent's Office. The US Version was really, really good but but it lasted at least two years to long.

I don't even know how you can compare this shit. It's a 13 episode show vs. what, 200 plus? Also they're barely even the same show, the American one became totally different VERY quickly.

The first three seasons of the U.S. Office were some of the best television ever, hilarious but also very realistic as well. You could either relate to some of the characters or you knew people like them.

The UK Office wins because of it's originality, the quality of every episode, it's realism and it's darkness.
The US Office is too sitcom-y and not even that good of a sitcom. I'm actually trying to get through it at the moment but I've stopped around halfway through Season 2 because it's just not very good, both in terms of interesting stories/characters and just overall funniness.
Maybe Season 2 improves and 3-5 are awesome though so I'll pick it back up soon.

Also they're barely even the same show, the American one became totally different VERY quickly. That's a good thing too, because I gave up on the American one when it looked like it was just copying its UK counterpart.

US. People can talk shit about the seasons after Michael left, but they're wrong.
