Cell phones, visual communication, iPads, and now replicators.
I'd better start seeing Star Trek style holodecks soon, just to keep up the streak.

Maybe another potential solution to world hunger? No, because I think you still need all the ingredients. It's not like it is just making them out of pure energy or inorganic matter.

When I saw it without explanation, I thought, well who knows what it's made of? It could be plastic. God knows what's in fast food.

Not so much 3d printing as squirting the ingredients out of a bottle and cooking it ?

Not so much 3d printing as squirting the ingredients out of a bottle and cooking it ? It's not just that though, you can make the food in almost any shape you want while also having an actual food that you can eat. It's a big thing, imo.

I can tell you this, I'll be making food in the shape of the Mortal Kombat dragon logo and nobody can stop me!

This will end up a pretty neat novelty on some college campuses, but I don't really see a practical application beyond that. Like others have said, it's not really 3D printed food, it's more just specialty shaped food.

I was under the impression it was creating matter from transfering it via net osmosis.
Otherwise known as like probably the most difficult thing to ever invent.
But nevermind that...ooooooh shapes!!

Like others have said, it's not really 3D printed food, it's more just specialty shaped food. It depends on what your definition of "3D printed food" is. It's not making food out of nothing, but it is making a 3D shape with food that you can eat.
