just want to point out that Ashley can be both a male & female name. Sure, in the same way any book is a children's book if the kid can read. Ash from Evil Dead is an Ashley. It's like Shannon or Leslie, or, more rarely nowadays it seems, Stacy.

Purchased a used copy of a fairly obscure fantasy novel for fifty cents and found a handwritten and personalized autograph from the author inside. Was an interesting find.
On the other side of the spectrum, I purchased a used copy of a world mythology book not too long ago, only to discover that the previous owner had made all kinds of feminist-leaning notes throughout most of it, with some sections even struck through. Most of it was in pen and highlighter. Annoying as hell.

One of the most indescribable feelings one can have. You can't manufacture and Internet anything near it.

Working for Half Price Books, I see a lot of this. Most of the time, I'm just "meh," but every once in a while, I'll see one and either having met the person selling it or them mentioning personal history/backstory (a LOT of "(somebody) passed away"), what was written to them just strikes me hard. Mostly ones from someone we find out is a widower and the inscription is something really powerful from their late spouse.
