Probably roasted bone marrow as a starter and creamy tripe soup at St. John's in London in terms of dining.
At home, probably a brined Turkey I made with some friends for Thanksgiving at college.
The coolest food I had was in Archipelago in London, where I had fried crickets and grasshoppers in a salad, spicy peacock for dinner, and a chocolate covered scorpion for dessert.

This topic is legit. Interested to see more input.
Not sure the answer for me. Had a steak in Wisconsin once that was about two people thick.
Wings in NYC that made my mouth water for a week afterward.
Answer simply might pork shoulder from The South and Amish bread.
Ooh. And elk! Elk please.
(Sounds lame, I realize. I'm more interested to hear others' high brow experiences. I'll try anything.)
Most interesting wise: I dunno. I've eaten an alligator. Lots of people have though.

I really can't identify the singular best meal I've ever had.
Off the top of my head, I had an absolutely killer steak at a place in Springfield, Massachusetts a couple of years ago.

I read this as best food you never ate... and was highly confused edit: On topic... I honestly can't single everything I've eaten into one this is the best thing I have ever eaten and will rank it above all others! but the best scallops I've ever eaten was at a local seafood place... that knew how to nail it every single time... unfortunately the building owners like tripled the rent and pushed them out. a runner up to that would be a local hibachi place that does a great job of tempura frying them my father took me to a steak house near his office in the city a few years ago and one of their signature dishes was this porcini rubbed steak which I could eat forever... and never buy anything again because it's stupid expensive.... at another steakhouse on long island they have a cajun calimari which is also superb and I've ordered it several times and it's always hit that mark where it's not rubbery and gross... I haven't eaten too many exotic or "weird" proteins... closest would have been bison or alligator which well... really aren't Not sure about what I'd put on my top home cooked...

Italian Sausage Sub from Giamela's in Burbank, Cali. Used to work near there and would get it at least once a week. It's far from where I'm at now but still get the urge to make the drive for it once in a while.

It doesn't get any better than that.

I had been at work three days (lots of driving 14-15hr shifts and its -20 everyday). Anyway the next day is our last. My partner and I start the day with a 0430 phone call that ordered us into a shitty long day. No time to even stop and grab food, we go where we are supposed to, do our thing and scrounge crackers and a soda. At about 10:30 that night we are released from our duty and finally get to stop at a store for food. I got three pieces of 8hr old fried chicken and my partner got two personal pizzas. That was the most delicious food we ever ate. We were so into eating it while driving we flew off an embankment and almost died in the snow, but jeezus was that good fried chicken

Any burger from BGR: The Burger Joint. There's a few locations but I always went to the one in Dupont Circle (Washington D.C.) Their fries are also killer.

Bull tail stew I had in Madrid, Spain in July 2013.
I remember halfway through realizing "this is the single best meal I've ever eaten."
The food was so rich, so flavorful. The fries were in the stew. I didn't know tastebuds were capable of such euphoria.

The bowl of Corn Flakes I had the morning after that psycho and his timid friend pulled a gun on me behind the convenience store where I used to work, before I became a veterinarian.
