Chris Evans as both Captain America and Human Torch. The only highlight in terrible FF movies, his Johnny Storm is the quintessential portrayal of the character for me. Michael Chiklis was fantastic (pun not intended) as The Thing. Of course they didn't surround Evans and Chiklis with much else. Michael Chiklis was fantastic (pun not intended) as The Thing. Of course they didn't surround Evans and Chiklis with much else. I actually think Ioan Gruffudd was good as Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba was just a poor choice for a love interest for him. It's been a long tims since I watched the FF movies, but I didn't hate them. I was annoyed with Alba as well. I won't defend the FF movies as adamantly as I do Daredevil, but a lot of the hate they get are unfounded. Hell even Dr Doom wasn't THAT bad. Certainly isn't " Victor the internet blogger" that the geniuses at fox are now giving us in the reboot.

Winter Solider was one of my favorite comic book characters. Sebastian Stan brought him to life in the movie that, at least to me, really felt like rather than hire an actor, they just had scientists turn the character on the pages into an actual human being. It probably helps a lot that I was previously unfamiliar with the actor, so I didn't have anything to take away from the feeling of watching the Winter Solider from my graphic novels.

I'll happily join the masses and say Christopher Reeve as Superman.
RDJ as Tony Stark. It really helped that RDJ went through the same substance abuse problems as Tony Stark.
And the entire cast of Watchmen. I cannot pick between them, that was perfect casting.
Edit: whoops, forgot villains. Tom Hardy as Bane. And whomever played Zod in Superman II.

Frank Gorshin as the Riddler. I'd give Gorshin the overall win because The Riddler wasn't a major villain at all before the TV show. He'd made a handful of appearances and just happened to be on the cover of the comic that producer Bill Dozier picked up. Riddler didn't become a major character until the show aired and was heavily influenced in personality and look by Gorshin's performance, including the suit/bowler hat look (Frank hated the jumpsuit). Frank Gorshin didn't play an iconic character, he CREATED one.

Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man Chris Evans as Captain America Chris Hensworth as Thor Christopher Reeve as Superman Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, even though he's taller than comics Wolverine
Heath Ledger as The Joker Terence Stamp as General Zod Tom Hiddleston as Loki Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier Tom Hardy as Bane
Pretty much all the MCU movie castings have been incredible from the major characters to the supporting players. Really looking forward to Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa and Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange.
And while I wouldn't call it the "greatest casting," I have a softspot for Stephen Amell's take on Oliver Quinn. Helps the actor is a pretty awesome person.

Ferrigno as the Hulk. Didn't matter that he wasn't 8 feet tall and the size of four people, he *was* the Hulk. Oh, and Bixby is still what I think of as Banner (Mark R.'s doing a great job, but he's playing an almost entirely new character in execution than the Banner in decades' worth of comics).
Bridges is *this* close to making my list for Stane, but something about the last third of that movie and his character just sort of trips it up a little.

I think Ryan Reynolds was great as a young Hal Jordan and Mark Strong was great as Sinestro, Andrew Garfield was good as young/ultimate Peter Parker.

I know it's not exactly a superhero, but what about Jon Favreau as Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson? Also, I liked Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and also Wesley Snipes as Blade.....j

I said it before but Chris Evans is basically Captain America in the flesh.
As for a villain, one thing Superman Returns got right was Spacey's Luthor.
