I made a start on Saints Row (2022) last night. I am not having fun with it yet, but I'm willing to give it a little longer to grab my interest.
I was thinking while playing that it feels like a game from a decade ago, but then I realised that GTA5 was out by then, so it'd have to be even further back. Your character feels very floaty and not actually attached to the world when running around, and the driving feels clunky. The world itself feels lifeless. I've not run into any major technical issues, but I did see two characters who had spawned into each other and couldn't move anywhere because of it. I could put up with all of that if had entertaining, occasionally whacky, missions and sidequests, but I suspect I'm going to be disappointed on that front.
Today will decide whether I continue with it or abandon it.

If the characters were half way well written I think I could have gotten past how mid everything else was, but it just soured me further. It just blows my mind that they had the goofy Slam dunk open world game and they went the lamest route with it.

It just blows my mind that they had the goofy Slam dunk open world game and they went the lamest route with it. That's about double what I've managed, and I'm done with it. There's just nothing pulling me back to play it again.
An early main mission sees you jumping from cars to trucks before they explode while shooting enemies. It's quite impressive how they managed to make it unexciting. I tried a few of the side quests and they were ok, but nothing about them stood out.
The other thing that stood out to me for some reason was when I tried to climb the big cat rock formation. Obviously, there are parts that are too steep and your character will slide back down them. What I didn't expect was the falling from height animation as my character "slid" back down with seemingly no interaction with the surface.
I'm glad I didn't buy this because then I'd feel forced to put in more time.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get Alone in the Dark this week. On one hand survival horror fans are praising it but still saying it's kind of mid in a lot of ways and has maybe 16 hours of playtime to complete both samey character stories. On the other hand, I feel I should support any attempt at survival horror done right and will probably enjoy it like I did with the wester Silent Hills. But who knows if I'll even be able to find a copy in the wild. I was at Best Buy and Walmart today and neither store had it.

Has anyone noticed that the PS Store is becoming absolutely chock full of absolute trash?
Browsing for newish games to buy. It's just full of shite like Co-Omets, Mr Broco and Co, Spin the Lighthouse. Games which look like they were made in half an hour to make a quick buck. I am guessing the only real selling point is they are a quick platinum for people who are interested in trophies.
I wish there was a way to permanently remove the drudge from the store. Just a "hide game" button so I didn't have to weed through pages of garbage to find something good.]
I wonder how long it'll be until we get "games" put together by an AI programme showing up.

Was rumored a while back that Sony was going to kill off the garbage games, but it never came to pass. The fact that shit "developers" like Breakthrough Gaming and whoever keeps putting out the Jumping/Pet crap are still allowed to get away with this, much less that they show up in the sales, is mind boggling.

They are definitely the worst of the lot. It makes the store look so bad. If Sony wants to keep them on for whatever reason (likely because trophy hunters wanting an easy platinum) then at least put them in their own section. It is annoying having to browse through pages of guff to find the few gems, and especially since there is always a good chance that an actually good indie title gets lost among the guff and the cash grabs.

The PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for April are: ➕ Immortals of Aveum ➕ Minecraft Legends ➕ Skul: The Hero Slayer Full details: play.st/4ab4yvc
I really didn't need to wait to find out what games were coming up before I had a look to see if there's anything interesting in the sale.

The main thing I wish they'd add is a filter for games with local multiplayer (and whether you want 2,3,4 players), I'm regularly looking for games to play with my kids and it's a pain in the arse. Same filter is needed on the library too.

Finally on the home-stretch of Ragnarok. Cant say I enjoyed it nearly as much as the first. It’s good… but it didn’t grip me.

Pretty bad month. A game that caused the developer to lay off half its staff, and then Minescraft which I dont care about. Skul seems interesting, but I get bored of roguelike's too quickly.

Danganronpa 3 Chapter 6 drags on and on and on ...
Final chapter, so I will force through it. But bloody hell is it a drag.

I wouldn't recommend getting Planet Zoo. It is pretty shit. It is just constant micomanagement with useless staff and zero time to just enjoy your zoo. Crap tutorials too. I just spent ages creating a Mandrill exhibit, only to have them climb over the fence because I didn't realise I had to put anti-climb barriers on top. Can they not just come as default?
I sighed, turned it off rather than go through the hassle of rounding them up and decided to play Jurassic World Evolution instead.

My wifes the opposite she's enjoying it on Series x, it's buggy since it just came out on console but she enjoys the micromanagement here more than Evolution

tried out the stellar blade demo because of how much of a meme the characters looked like but… to my surprise it is actually excellent.
they took bits of nier, bits of dark souls and wrapped it all up in what feels like a ps5 console essential. for as ready as I was to dunk on it, this might get really great reviews.

Finally beat Ragnarok … and it was fine. I didn’t love it nearly as much as the first. It had its moments but didn’t grip me nearly as tight.

Danganronpa 3 Chapter 6 drags on and on and on ... Final chapter, so I will force through it. But bloody hell is it a drag. A definite problem with the series is that it just gets more and more drawn out. The first trial in 2 is longer than any of the ones in 1 and the first trial in V3 is just barely shy of the longest one in 2 and they bloat out from there. I like V3's ending a lot but it does definitely take awhile to get there.

For anyone in the market for getting a PS5 that also has a Costco membership, they're selling a bundle for $530 with the 1TB Disc Drive Slim PS5 with an extra red Dualsense controller and a download voucher for Spidey 2. You're saving roughly $100 versus if you bought all them separately. When I get a PS5, I'm probably going to buy that.

But bloody hell, it took like an hour during the trial hammering the point home that {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}everything in the world is fiction including them. I also HATE the Armanent Argument--just loud, obnoxious, annoying and take longer than they should.

Replaying New Vegas now. Didn't even realise it was on PS Plus Premium.
Controls feel a bit clunky now, but still holds up even today.
